A Guide to safer trading - marketplace sticky

We all know that Sythe.org is the number one site for black market game sales, but unfortunately with that fame comes the tidal wave of scammers/degenerates who's only ambition in coming to Sythe is to exploit and rip off people for their own personal gain.

What I propose is a guide, made by the experienced marketplace traders that would have its thread title coloured and be stickied in every branch of the marketplace to educate all Sythe members in measures you can take to drastically reduce the chance of you falling victim to a scam.

Put yourself in a new member or leecher's shoes for a second. You decide you want to buy a partyhat (for example), so you create a Sythe account, following the links to the item buying section and all you see is the "what belongs here sticky" and hundreds of threads selling all kinds of things. How much easier and safer would you find trading if the first thing you noticed was a big, bright, stickied guide, explaining to you in depth all the aspects of a trade, the risks and how you can minimize those risks?

    Things you could include:

-Payment options, the pro's and cons of the various methods.
Many people know nothing of terms like "gift, claim and cancel, attaching notes, being verified, CC funded paypals" until they learn of them the hard way.

-Private Messaging and it's importance in determining that you're trading with who you think you are and are not being taken for a ride by an impostor/hacker.

-Middlemen, how do they work? What is an OMM? (that questions pops up all the time)

-Determining someone's trustworthy level, checking quantity and quality of vouches, googleing their MSN, discerning whether they've been active or not lately, etc.

Those are just some of the idea's that could be included in a guide, there are many more and there are plenty of experienced people here at Sythe who I'm betting if they combined all of their ideas, tips and methods for trading safely would make for one hell of a guide for new comers and experienced traders alike!

    Thoughts? :)

There is already one of these up: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=920555

I know it doesn't have everything that you are suggesting but it has some of it. I support that there could be a full guide although if you go to the User Educator section there are one or two already posted that are quite nice.

I support but only if YOU write those guides. I am more than positive a mod would be happy to make it into a sticky.

I support this 100% I remeber being a leecher and having to learn things the hard way... so many times did i get on here and get scammed... i used to sell accounts that were lvl 3 with 99 hunting and i lost SOOOO many of those accounts... I would of loved to have a guide like the one described... the guide given in the link in the 1st comment i think could be made A WHOLE LOT better.... and I like the sticky idea..... maybe sythe.org could set up something that sends a Private Message to all newcommers explainging how to trade safly... idk maybe the PM message could start out like this... "Just So You Know (as title) and then go on to list some things to beware of and how to avoid that...." I think that would knock down scamming A LOT... I got so tired of it i quit trading via sythe for a long time.... but I am back and i have been back and i feel i know how to protect myself now but i like this idea VERY much....

    Hope this goes through,

    -Deathmaul-

PS. I WOULD LOVE TO HELP WITH THIS GUIDE

That's not really a guide, sure it contains a couple of helpful tips regarding account trading but I'm more talking about something in-dept and helpful on all subjects regarding trading online that would be universal to all sub-sections..

I'm quite willing to start the ball rolling by throwing my ideas out there for a good guide if the idea develops any interest...

I'm well aware the user educators and others in that section of the forums make good guides, but I'm guessing that area is often overlooked, especially by new comers to the site, who don't know where to look.
