Time Limit On Sythe Gold Transactions

Hello,
As the title states this a simple suggestion in regard to placing a time limit on Sythe Gold transactions such as only being able to make x amount of transactions in x amount of time. This is solely being suggested as to avoid abuse of the system to spam/troll users with Sythe Gold transaction statements. Specifics on the limitations are up for discussion but I'd say a 5 minute cooldown between transactions would be sufficient. With Sythe Gold being so easy to acquire as of right now I could definitely see the current way the system works being used for aforementioned reasons. Don't like someone? For the small price of 100 Sythe Gold ($1) and a few minutes of your time you can barrage their inboxes with heaps of messages (100).

Edit: I'm sure there are other ways to address this (if it's to be addressed at all) but this is just my personal suggestion. I have no technical background so I'm not aware of the weight of the work behind implementing a timer as opposed to other possible solutions. Regardless I think this needs to be dealt with accordingly.

 

Yes pls I don't want to wake up to 50+ messages and have to scroll through them to see which are actually important

 

I'd be okay with a 1 minute timer.

5 Seems a little much, if I want to send gold to a few friends I don't want to have to wait 20 minutes to do so.

I'd be much more in favor of a 1 minute timer.

 

Not worth the coding effort, in my opinion. Yeah, you can spam people by sending them Sythe gold, but you can spam them with regular messages too. Simply report the person spamming you for harassment and they'll be infracted/banned based on the severity.

Like I said the specifications of the limit are up for discussion but I understand once they implement some actual use for Sythe Gold it will become more commonly traded/diced/etc and I'd never want to hinder any legitimate transactions from occurring. 5 minutes does seem a little excessive as an afterthought.

 

Fair enough to just simply report people for spamming/trolling/etc with the Sythe Gold transaction statements but does repeatedly GIFTING another user Sythe Gold really quality as spam/trolling/etc by definition on this forum? It's hard to draw a line, especially from the unbiased opinion of a staff member dealing with the report. If someone is just spamming you with baseless traditional style messages it's easier to gauge when/if they have ill-intent. Like I said in the OP though I don't have a technical background so I'm not sure how much effort it would be to implement such a feature.

 

There are just more prominent things that need to be done before this is even considered. Pretty sure 1-20 Sythe gold over and over is spam over 20 messages. If you're getting more than 20 don't complain xD

 

You're not wrong with saying there are more pressing matters to attend to. I just figure this should be brought up now while the system is still being developed actively to be implemented accordingly if deemed necessary. It doesn't have to be dealt with immediately but it could just be noted for future correction.

That's an easy solution, sure. I'll give you that. By no means am I saying my way is the only way. But if you're regularly dealing with Sythe Gold you'll probably want to have those notifications for legitimate transactions. It'd be a shame to lose the ability to be alerted due to a few trolls.

 

Sending/receiving Sythe gold is instant. It does not require you accepting anything, so why do you need the transactions? If it's a substantial amount you would obviously know the relative amount that increased. Therefore you can go and check your recent activity if need be to clarify.

 

Yes. But like PureAddiction said if it's not a hard fix why not implement it. And like I said I'm not expecting this to be implemented ASAP, just perhaps considered as an update to the system in the future.

As Bonesack mentioned, for only $5 you could completely flood someone's inbox (500+ messages) which could potentially cause them to miss out in important legitimate messages.

The only scenario in which a 5 minute delay to send Sythe gold to the same user would be a problem would be if you were buying Sythe gold and went 50/50, which would never happen because A: Middlemen exist and B: Who scams Sythe gold (you'd just get banned and lose it all)

People are just trying to be difficult tbh

 

I really don't see a need for this. If someone is spamming you, just report them.

To my knowledge it doesn't seem like this a current problem? Seems like it's going to be more effort than its worth.

 

Domestic terrorism wasn't considered that much of a problem before 9-11, look where we are now.
