DMT - the key to the afterlife?

Dimethytryptamine is the most potent psychedelic known to man. It is also illegal, yet our brains and almost every plant produce it. Also, not to mention we trip on DMT every day of our lives, except we call it a dream. And to make things more interesting, if we didn't dream, or trip on DMT, we would go crazy. This chemical is necessary for life.

People who trip on DMT all share a similar experience, they all talk to an alien like creature, and some are considered as "helpers" who show the person around. People who have tripped on DMT also said that it was the most profound experience of their life and they felt as if they were disconnected from their body and the physical world. Also, DMT is released in large doses when you die. Could DMT be evidence of an afterlife? Or do you think it is just a typical psychedelic. I personally think it is the chemical that frees us from the physical world and puts us into the afterlife, where we would be exposed to all frequency ranges, not just the small part that we are experiencing right now.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

This book goes really in depth: DMT:The Spirit Molecule by Dr. Rick Strassman, but these videos can teach you basically all you need to know:

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

How exactly do they KNOW large amounts of it are released when you die? They would have to actually witness and run tests on it while its occuring, or get a freshly dead body. Which is hard to come by since the locals are always messing around with it.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

Dr. Rick Strassman found that the pineal gland releases DMT when the body experiences extreme stress. And death is one of the most stressful times of your life. If you've ever been in an accident or in my case almost drowned, you've experienced that sense of euphoria where you feel almost disconnected from the physical world. It's just your body preparing to die.

Ha, I had that experience. When my brother let the bed on fire and it caught a lot of shit on fire also, I was basically disconnected was very delusional.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

I've heard this before. I must admit it's a far shot. But it's very possible.
When talking about after life, you cannot deny any speculations or theories, as it's impossible to tell what is in the after life, until you die.

Hrm, illegal? I was told it was legal, just like salvia, just because it helps people with insomnia and such?

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

I've read about DMT before and it's supposed to be one of the most potent drugs around (yet it seems to work for only a few minutes). Few hits and you're passed out.

What's interesting, is that the brain releases a shitload of DMT just before you die. I have no idea why.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

Well, Ive almost died a couple of times. Once I fell off a roof and fractured my back and some other shit, but I was knocked out and barely remember a thing. I also almost drowned once, but the onlything that happened was for some reason, when I was about to run out of air, a small quick burst of air hit my lungs. Ill have to go get another near death experience to find out what its like, Ill let you know when I do.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

Sure it may be released naturally and through a drug, but all this happens when you are ALIVE. You may feel as if you have left your physical body, but it is still there and very much alive. When your brain is DEAD this cannot have the same effect; this would make absolutely no sense.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

Well your brain doesn't just instantly die like that. If you got shot in the chest or one of your arteries gets cut open and you are bleeding to death, you probably have a few minutes until you die. Your body can go about 4 minutes without oxygen, so if you drown, after 4 minutes you have an extremely low chance of paramedics recovering you. This small time frame is when your brain supposedly releases a huge dose of DMT into your body. But why? Could the brain be doing this just to ease one from the pains of death? Or could it be transporting the soul to another dimension? Or both? Also, keep in mind that it only takes about 20 seconds after a hit of DMT until the trip takes full affect.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

I don't understand how it could be transporting your soul to another dimension, since your body produces DMT naturally and people have taken it and all of their bodies AND their souls are still here.
I find it very plausible that it is your body's natural, instinctual reaction to a body's nearing death.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

During these DMT trips, some people freak out and wonder how they are ever going to return to their body. This sometimes prolongs the trip, but the person always returns to his/her own body. The thing with death is there isn't a body to go back to because that body is not functional anymore, so you stay in the other realm. Keep in mind im not stating any of this as fact, I'm just hypothesizing.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

    Isn't that a misconception?
There are records of people not sleeping up to 18 days and still living.
Maybe you should read up unto them.
And also, you might be interested in metaphysics.

DMT - the key to the afterlife?

I suppose it's a valid theory, but is currently impossible to test (as far as I know).
