The thing about the 7 days without a staff member posting is, a lot of staff don't post on them because they don't support them. If we don't support them, then all we're doing by posting "no support" is boosting our post count. Realistically, in my opinion a no support and not posting are the exact same thing.

Nah that's not a valid reason tbh. Staff also post on disputes even when they have no support. It's not that hard to post a no support on a pardon.

It's not meant to be an excuse. That's just literally all the post is worth if you think about it. If we see a pardon and we don't support it, then why post "no support" if it makes no difference to the user or the outcome of the situation. Call it laziness of anything, and I understand where you're coming from, a no support would be better than no post at all to some, but I wouldn't so far to say it's messed up of staff to not post on a pardon.

Boo fucking hoo. If 6 months is all they get for lying and deceiving the staff through their ban evasion, they should be thanking their lucky stars. You know, once upon a time Sythe had this rule that if you ban evaded, you get permed and thrown off of the site for good. When the pardons were introduced, it gave us leniency that we don't deserve. Of course, now that it has been implemented for some time, you all think it's your get out of jail free card and god forbid if someone's pardon isn't answered, then that is somehow "Unfair". Funny. Unfair in what sense? That someones deserved punishment isn't being appealed? The matter of the fact is usually all pardons are eventually handled whether it be the first or second time around. You deserve to be permed all together so however long you spend waiting on a verdict is honestly a blessing.

Honestly, this has come up multiple times each year on Sythe.

If you are personally serious about making a pardon, you would go out of YOUR way to get attention on that thread. I had about 2-3 responses on mine before I PERSONALLY contacted different Mods and asked them to post a response on my pardon based on their opinion regardless if it was a Yes or No.

Plus, the pardons these days are so shit. If you are actually sincere and actually regret what you did in the past you would actually make a half-arsed attempt on writing up a pardon.

I mean, mine was like an essay.

If your pardon is like 3 lines, stating you X donator, X vouches, X member length. Thats pretty shit. I've dealt with Scam Reports/Ban Appeals and throwing out something stupid isn't going to get you any attention.

Also in reference to this: http://www.sythe.org/dispute-forum-archive/1634760-x-w0lf-x-requesting-high-pardon.html

Let me personally point out the flaws with that:

1. Previous account? Has debts been repaid whatsoever? No? Has effort been placed to repay those required or even contacted staff on what to do? I don't think so.

2. He talks about his only personal gain on the site. If you want a community to strive, its a joint effort. His added presence, doesn't contribute as a whole.

3. His vouches, it's not linked anywhere. Where is the proof of this. It's not up to the mods to go grave-dig this information.

4. Apparently, he was on PB and ran a gold business there. Where is the proof? Why isn't his profile linked at all.

I mean come on. After you get banned he doesn't go to live under a rock at all. He goes on other communities and does business. But by neglecting to provide a piece of evidence at all to show that he's "changed", current moderators even if they don't know him find it difficult to make a judgement call.

My 2cents.

The pardon system is a privilege in itself. If someone doesn't post support, you can assume they don't support it. Staff do check the section regularly enough otherwise nobody would get supported and unbanned.

Denied, thanks though :)

Disputes, High pardons etc..
I wanted to post my opinion on this earlier but didn't get a chance to, so I'm posting now...

To try to sum it up and avoid a tl;dr rant:

We've been advised that the pardon system was/has been/should be designed in a very exclusive way. Guidelines have been outlined in such a way that staff members are discouraged from leaning towards yes just because of what someone has posted in their pardon request. What a lot of you (and I, quite some time ago) seem to think is that if someone scams and returns in a year with a pardon request, their pardon request should be accepted: this is not what the system was designed for (or so it is told). People who scam are permanently banned. People who post malicious links with the intent to hack/RAT/whatever sythe.org users are permanently banned. So if we know your story, and if we (majority of upper staff, really) think that you really deserve to come back and use the website, you'll typically be pardoned.

So with all of that said, we have somewhat reformed to be more lenient with permanent bans. We want to retain our users. Many of you don't know that almost a year ago we began a rule-reform process to gradually become more forgiving and tolerant of our users. For example, we've changed the rules so that users who ban evade temporary bans are not banned permanently, instead they are now banned for a week longer than their temp. Hell, people that ban evaded offenses more than 6 months ago are actually supposed to be, on a case-by-case basis, evaluated and sometimes forgiven for minor offenses. Staff members have also been encouraged to send firm warning PMs to users that engage in borderline-malicious activity (buying phished account logs and that sort of thing) instead of banning them permanently. The gates were actually [unofficially] opened to users who had been banned for minor offenses (this is not restitution). With that in mind, Verts and some others actually unbanned some hundreds or thousands of older users that had committed offenses we no longer ban permanently for. Just keep in mind that clearly outlining and changing these sorts of things is a very long and arduous task for us.

My point is basically that, as a whole, we want to be tolerant of users and theoretically with fewer permanent bans come fewer pardon requests.

it's not a problem, i just find it unfair he didn't get any responce. some people would think it's obviously a no-support
but people would also think that staff members ignored it and perhaps didn't even bother to type 2 seconds 'no support'
the person might think, nobody took him serious and i can understand that.
but how would you feel, if you make a Dispute and absolutely no staff responded to your post, serious or a less serious thread. you would probably think the same.
i might be wrong about what i've said and i can understand it's not easy to work alot, reading threads of couple pages

Pardon requests are only for bans that are completely legitimate - so if you're submitting a pardon request, you're already supposed to be banned [permanently] from the website.
