Discussion: Where I think Jagex went wrong.

So by now it is obvious to myself, and I'm sure everybody else that this game is pretty much done. RS3 hasn't really made of much of an impact as Jagex thought, and now they're spending a lot of their time backpedaling. 07scape was a good idea, however it's not 2007 anymore. Yeah sure, they're updating the game - but the overall community surrounding 07scape is only going to continually decrease. All the newcomers go straight to the big picture, RS3. It's comparable to a new player choosing between RS2 and RSC. I don't know a whole lot about legacy, but it is definitely once again backpedaling. They're trying to reintroduce old features that the older members of the community wants back, just for a feeling of nostalgia that they'll soon rid of after a few months. Who in their right mind wants to play a game of 2 combat systems? It completely baffles me that Jagex even thought this was a plausible option.

When RS2 was introduced, there was a series of beta in which the community played and took part in. Once RS2 was finally released, they kept the old game around and gave the players an option of which one they wanted to transfer their items to. All their stats and quest history was kept.

I'm aware that RS3 and EoC were different updates, however they were only a few months apart and I personally think they should have been implemented together. RS3 was rushed. The introduction of EoC essentially turned the game into a spiral downhill. Not because it's a bad system and it is worse than the combat system before, but because the community was not ready for it yet. I personally think EoC was the next step forward in their game, but Jagex just didn't go about it the right way. Jagex should have released RS3 as a whole separate game to RS2, with a similar approach to their transition between classic and RS2.

I myself would have stuck around for RS2, and most probably would still be playing now. With that being said, I most definitely would have had more of a crack at RS3/EoC and might have even fallen for it. I'd like to say that if RS3 had been released as a completely separate game with the combat system reworked, the overall community as a whole right now would be at one of it's strongest and moving forward.

    Please leave feedback, thanks.
