Really, more and more people are taking advantage of this "Freedom of Speech", you can see someone posting a topic about the bible, and users responding with negative responses of one and another religions and beliefs. This is discriminating others peoples beliefs, simply by posting something that has nothing to do with it, or insulting by the person who posted the topic which may or may not be religous. It's wrong to defend yourself by flaming another Sythe user, and I know how you may of felt insulted of an immature minor discriminating your beliefs and all, but you never resolve in violence, karma will get them. I feel bad for the religous people of Sythe getting attacked of there beliefs from the atheist people of Sythe.

In the real world, this would of never been accepted, you guys are barbaric people insulting one and another beliefs and ways, homosexual or not. Never break there rights, because violence will always follow up. I'm sick of you, the people who are against homosexuals, religous, and racist to a colored person. I'm for free speech, but I'm against free speech from people who use it negatively, which in most cases happens.

If you're insulted for your beliefs, race, and homosexually. Never let that person get to you, never respond negative, stand strong and never let it get to you, because you're a more moral and stronger person then them.

If you don't like homesexuals, if you don't believe in someone religion, and if you're a racist, keep it to yourself, never post something negative to someone.

I couldn't agree more. These past few months here on sythe seem to have gotten worse and worse regarding discrimination and that is a sad thing. As you said, just turn the other way and don't retaliate because that will get you no where. This is, however, an internet forum, and thus you can't expect everyone to have the same feelings on the subject as you do.

I agree..People use the terms "gay" and "black" alot where im from and most of the time are using it against people.

I personally agree with you and think these people are very wrong for judging people, most of the time not even knowing about the other persons beliefs/religion/sex.

Actually hate groups are riseing, more then they were "50-60 years ago".
Lately on sythe we have had much discimination against other's orrientation (being gay, bi-sexual, straight, etc.) It truely need's to stop, there is no point in it, for one it will not help anyone, and two, whats so diffrent about being black, or being bi/gay? Nothing! What if straights, were the lower percentage, and the "strange" ones (according to the sythe members discimination posts).
It's complete bullshit to discriminate against other's, common sense people!

50-60 years ago was terrible, even up until 10-20 years ago discrimination was almost thought to be a fair thing to do.

I disaggree in the respect thats its increasing.. It reached its peak long ago.. It dropped rapidly and now its stayed constant. obviously with some peaks and troughs, but still not too high

its at an ok lvl, i can see why people discriminate, and alot of people can't do anything about it, but i don't think its really a problem anymore..

I can understand why it's wrong to insult somebody for their sexuality or the color of their skin, but whats wrong with insulting a belief?
You don't choose your sexuality or your skin color but you do choose your beliefs. It's not my fault your beliefs are often stupid.

Discrimination is acting based on a characteristic. Discrimination would be calling someone an idiot for following a religion, but saying you don't follow and say why (such as my reasons: No proof, no need, Ockham's Razor) is just discussing it.

If you say you like a certain kind of cake, and I say I don't and list why I don't, is that discrimination, or is that just a healthy discussion?

It may be rainy outside. You might not like the rain because it keeps you from doing things outdoors, but I enjoy the rain because you can sit next to a window and watch it pour. Is that discrimination?

There are hundreds of other situations that would be "discrimination" by your standards, but you would probably brush it aside.

I agree with you in a way, if you say you dislike someone just because of their religion (or their sexuality, race, etc), then it is discrimination. Disagreeing with someone about things isn't.

This is the debate forum. Members come here of their own accord to debate issues. This is perfectly acceptable.

Goebbels was in favor of free speech for views he liked. So was Stalin.

There's a huge gap between discrimination and offending people's beliefs, religious or political. I find it very discriminating that you discriminate against people who discriminate - do you get the point?

I agree with you in some sense but I don't think you've made a very good approach to this topic because your being rather aggressive in your choice of language... I understand that your upset, and rightfully so, but I would recommend trying to approach the topic in more of a friendly manner, so that the people you are trying to reach will be more receptive to you. ;)

With that said, I'm really tired of a lot of the negativity in this forum, and I do believe that it is inappropriate to discriminate against a belief no matter how foolish it is.

What some of you may consider to just be "simply a belief" is an entire way of life for other people... When you insult someones beliefs you insult their lifestyle. It's ok to offer criticism of beliefs, that's how we learn from one another, but flaming and projecting negative energy on other people because of their belief isn't appropriate.

For example, personally I have very strong feelings about the scientific paradigm - I'm not a fan of the way it has come to express itself over the years, to put it bluntly. This is a paradigm that almost everyone here abides by, and if I was consistently "Insulting" everyone's belief in this paradigm I wouldn't make very many friends, so instead I try to offer constructive criticism - I share my opinions and hope that people can learn from them...

    Peace!

    Yes, I agree.

There has been much discrimination, and it happens constantly. Most of this occurs in the Off-Topic Section, and a majority of it in the Spam Forum. There are people who get a sick pride or something out of the discrimination of another race or religion, when infact they know that it is directly insulting ones lifestyle. This is wrong, and I hope that in the upcoming days, there will be much stricter rules reguarding such actions.

In most cases, I am able to turn away from what others say to me, but it may not always be that simple. And ShameOnYou; I agree with 'keep it to yourself', but I am certain that most individuals on Sythe do not understand this concept, mainly because of their 'state of being'. There is a lot of immaturity that floats among the website, as there are many who are directly influenced by other, which dictates their feelings.

So, to sum it up. Discrimination is wrong, and it should not be expressed in any shape or form. It's again the law, and it's evidently against the rules on Sythe. If you have a problem with someone, turn the other way, because you will make no personal gain on making an insult.

    Peace.

I agree with this as well. Why do people have to be such asses? I don't know, its just how things are in this world, and however much they annoy us or we want them to stop. We don't have much of a choice. People have their right to their own beliefs and im not against that, at all. Their might be times when I dont support ones beliefs, but I will never use it against them. I don't think we can bend the "freedom of speech" to one side though, because what one person says someone might see offensive, while someone else doesn't. So it bends both ways. Just my opinion.

Judging by certain posts in this thread, we should accept Neo-Nazis, black supremacists and suicide-bombing terrorists for who they are and what they believe, otherwise it's discrimination.

Fact of the matter is, that debating exists. There will always be conflicting viewpoints, no matter what topic we're on, and it seems stupid to me that we should all just stick to the old saying, "each to their own", just because we might end up offending someone for disagreeing with them and offering alternatives as to why their particular set of beliefs could be inherently wrong; or in some cases scientifically disproven.

Personal Jeusus, as far as I'm concerned the damage a suicide bomber may cause is far less significant than the damage a single scientist may cause to the collective simply by fueling a corrupt paradigm.

You will disagree with me obviously, but I'm just trying to illustrate that it would be very easy for me to discriminate against atheists if I felt so inclined... except I know that discrimination doesn't work. It doesn't fix anything. It just creates fights and fuels negative energy, which is already rampant here. ;)

There is NO ONE on this forum, including myself, that has the authority to dictate the laws of the cosmos to anyone as absolute truth, we can all share the truth that we find to be True to ourselves, but truth is a lot more subjective than you might suspect. There is no specific paradigm that has the authority to do so either, which includes both science and religion. Each perspective has to be viewed as a single piece of the much grander puzzle for anyone to get anywhere new.

    We are all equals here.

I agree athiest should speak there minds out on the religous debates, but me as a Christian feel isolated because I'm not an "athiest" I'm not saying to be a Christian but atleast have the dignity to not taunt our religion.
