    I've never heard of Emprex. Must be a shitty writer if you have to download drivers. Windows or a MAC should automatically recognize it.

    Yeah thats the problem. I guess I installed it wrong or something because it has a driver for the dvd writer... but its the old one that I took out.
    Right now it has some driver from Sony.

    So programs like Nero and Roxio don't recognize the drive, but I can still watch movies/play games and what not. I can also burn DVDs with this one program I have... but it doesn't work very well.

    Maybe I should uninstall that driver and see if windows will do something about it?

    if its an internal drive, just plug and play (you may have to restart a second time or do a windows update)

    if its external, plug and play like a flash drive
