Reduce your internet lag SIGNIFICANTLY V2

My first guide was abit outdated so I've updated it and added some extra ways to reduce your lag enjoy!

This guide will show you how to reduce your latency (MS/lag), significantly. this will usualy lower your ms from 200 to less than 50.

You will need to download a few files for this all are contained in a .rar files at the bottem.

    Latrix Latency Fix:

Latrix Latency Fix is a .vbs file that significantly reduces MS by increasing the frequency of TCP acknowledgements sent to the game server. For the technically minded, this is a script which will modify TCPAckFrequency.

    WLAN Optimizer:

WLAN Optimizer is a small application for WIFI users that disables Vista/Win7 background scans with WiFiHelper. It improves latency time of wireless connections. Hence it is useful for people with wireless connections getting lag spikes (especially during online gaming, audio and video streaming). The application automatically tries to optimize your wireless.

Step 1: Check your MS on: http://www.pingtest.net/

Step 2: Download the MS Reduction Tools pack from a url at the bottem of this post

Step 3: Extract the .ZIP file with winrar http://www.rarlab.com/ to my documents, keep them incase you need them later on.

step 4: Double click WLAN Optimizer in MS Reduction Tools folder (no setup required) then double click WiFiHelper (no set up required) then double click Install (restart required).

Step 5: Click "Checker" in MS Reduction Tools to make sure everything installed.

    Step 6:
Check your MS again on: http://www.pingtest.net/ to see results!

Note: AVG does not seem to like WiFiHelper if resident shield is turned on it will prompt you when it trys add it self to start up.

If you still disconnect/lag then try rebooting your router if that doesn't work...

If you type ipconfig in cmd you will see something called "default gateway" an IP will show something like this; 192.168.0.1

If you type it into the url of your browser and login your router with your username and password (If you don't know your routers default password check here http://www.phenoelit-us.org/dpl/dpl.html) and if you don't know your routers model check on the bottem of your router. look for the option to change your wireless channel (often "wireless options"), usualy it will be from 1 to 13. Once you've found this option change your wireless channel to a channel with less wifi interference then save. You can download inSSIDer to find your exact interference on X wireless channel and to find the best possible wireless channel. Example if your RSSI shows up in in red then you're getting alot of interference; you should aim for 40 RSSI. http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4061/inssider.jpg

If anyone still continues to not see improved latency/less disconnects then pm me or post here and I'll try help as best as I can.

Why not include a guide for other operating systems such as PCBSD?

PC-BSD (FreeBSD) gives you all the software you need:

    /usr/ports/*
