My Story and my Farewell

Hello Sythe,

It's been an eventful month! I started up a gold business, lost 150$, and ended a gold business within 20 days.

Anyway, I'm done real world trading for online games, specifically RuneScape. I've discovered how unfair it is and no longer wish to continue degrading RuneScape past the point where it already is.

Backstory: I've traded about 1B worth of RS gold in the past 6 months, about 300M of it was via my main account(stupid decision). I was a rank in a JMods friends chat at the time.

So tonight I was sitting in the Grand Exchange on my main account. I was, at the time, a rank in a J-Mods friends chat. I got a surprise PM from said J-Mod telling me that we need to talk. We went into my Friends Chat and spoke a little bit.

Before I get started on the story, I just want to say that this JMod is the friendliest, most epic J-Mod ever and I'm not doing that just to kiss ass. This person really is a cool mod who genuinely loves their job.

Anyway, I invited the JMod into my FC because private message is a pain to have a long conversation in. They were blunt about it. They said "I need to speak with you about your in-game activities. I'll be blunt about it, it has come to our attention that you've been involved in gold selling/buying. Do you want to add anymore onto the story?"

So we talk about this issue some more about why I did it and how I figured out that this was a good way to make a little money on the side.



I've felt a sort of remorse since my PayPal account was limited mainly due to the fact that I lost $150. In the past week or so I've realized how much RWTing is unfair to the other people and how stupid it was for me to do this while having so many connections with Jagex.

So, anyway, I was deranked from the FC which I have no problem about. The JMod and myself are on good terms and I officially apologized for what I did.



When I asked how Jagex figured out, the mod said "I have my ways and spies ".

But anyways, guys, I'll be leaving you alone now. I no longer condone your actions, but I understand why you do it. Remember, don't assume Jagex isn't watching. Remember, this is a risky business and you're never alone.

Most of you guys are excellent people. Enjoy you're trades, but also remember what I said above.

ALSO NOTE: My PayPal is still having issues, Paypal is working on redoing your payments so don't worry, you're payment is coming back.

Well, I was a rank in their FC so it would kind of make sense. I was surprised they contacted me in game as well, but it's understandable.

 

You are quite lucky that the Jmod didn't ban you for RWT

 

The mod is a CM (community management) and when asked if my account would be banned, they said "I don't know, I don't choose that."

Still waiting for my account to be banned though. It very well may happen.

I am going to be honest. I think he was probably just bluffing you and looking for it. How would he have known if he is just a community manager? Spies? That doesn't make any sense. You probably just told on yourself, it would have been better to have denied it because you're going to get banned anyway.

Could be possible, but why would they target me? They would have to have some evidence or I was just a random target.

Oh well, it's done and over with.

Well, Sythe isn't all about RWT. You can stay and still post on some interesting topics.

 

Transfer all your shit off your account while you can, J-Mod probably put in a good word for you but who knows. I've seen some kid get messaged by a J-Mod while he was account sharing and the J-Mod started asking him all these questions and then teleported him away and kicked him off the account. You probably got lucky this time, I'm pretty sure you'll get a second chance though, as that's what every gold seller would of said in your position, and like 90% don't get permed, they just get re-set.
