I'll throw down 100m on this. They're both great, I just think someone needs to call you out on this.

OT: I do think preference is given to staff, but I also think that a lot of it is justified. The requirements to be on the staff and the requirements to become an OMM overlap greatly. This means that if someone becomes staff, they already have 75-90% of what the staff is looking for in an OMM.

That said, I do think TBT definitely deserves OMM as he has demonstrated his trust extensively and has always been very helpful to me personally, but that's not my decision to make.

I have no clue what you are saying; I think you are misinterpreting my post.

In my post, I was talking about your first solution:

You created this solution because of the fact that staff have advantages over regular users in regards to trustability.

    When I said

I was referring to the fact that there are always going to be users who are more trustable than you, and you are always going to get more trustable as a middleman.

So those who have advantages shouldn't have to complete a harder application to be awarded the same rank.

I'm sorry. I got completely mixed up. I've changed my mind and retracted my argument, on some personal grounds.

I apologize to Snow Patrol. I know you're a great guys. I wasn't trying to bash you-- you just seemed like a good example for the argument I was making.

The attributes of a staff member are exactly what we look for in an Official Middleman, hence why Staff achieve the position relatively easy - they've already passed 50% of the test, and the other half is down to their trading capabilities (middlemanning in particular).
Official Middlemen applications get denied because the staff have VALID reason(s), and I don't see what kind of resolution your trying to achieve here - there's literally nothing to do... the system is fine.

Give me one single viable argument as to why us staff members should not be allowed to become Official Middlemen, or at least through the regular member process.

It doesn't make sense to have different requirements either way. They're applying for the same rank. I don't know how to make it more clear.

Again, what I said was that normal sythe users don't care to background check (nor do most of them do) because they aren't trading 1 billion RSGP. They're here to make small trades, like buying an upgrade for 9M instead of paying Jagex $8.

I think there's too much competition with ranks in general on this forum, and the "lower classed" people are just envious. To me, the system is fine the way it is.

Now there's no more stoof around it's easier to explain the situation.

The thread has become about 2 things:

    1) It's easier for a mod to get people to use them as they're mods
    2) The voting phase is much easier for mods than non mods

So here's my explanation to it.

    1) This is true and untrue. I'll explain the untrue part first - while I was going for omm I had numerous people say, "I don't even know who this cosrob guy is. Can we use deltasquad as i've used him before". Even though I was a mod people still don't know who I am. Generally, people use mms which they have associated with before as they already trust them. So being a mod isn't everything in getting mms, it's interactions with people that gets the MM. So the more you trade and well known you are the easier it is to get MMs.

Okay for the true part. It is easier for mods to get MMs if the people who need the MM haven't had any interactions with anybody. Punkerpunk made a thread asking the same question "why are mods trusted more than non mods": sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1099146. I haven't read through all the post in that thread but there are some good answers.

The question is: should we punish mods because regular user believe a mod is more trusted than a non mod? Now this seems silly because the mod doesn't ask for extra trust it's just regular users see them as extra trusted.

    2) Now on to point 2: As many have said throughout the thread there are many qualities that mods and omms share. So if a mod has passed voting in becoming a mod it means: they have no skeletons/nobody has found them, the staff believe the person is trustworthy and they are mature (lots of little other things are there which haven't been mentioned). The qualities an OMM needs are the same things as a mod. So it means the questions of are there any skeletons? Are they mature? Is the person trustworthy? All of these questions have already been answered and passed smoothly so why waste time and answer the same question twice.

So if a non-mod applies the questions are asked and if one of the question come up with a wrong answer it gives a good reason to deny them. So it isn't easier for a non-mod voting, it's just the questions have already been asked.

    Are you serious...

I was just giving examples of what could be holding OMM back... I'm one of TBT's closest friends, those were just examples.

You're taking my words out of context, I gave possible examples why SOMEBODY would not be promoted. Cosrob said it himself, he didn't get promoted the first two tries because he was too much of a troll...Dorianking apparently didn't know many staff, ETC, ETC.

Qouted for being a total fuckhead, a little too immature and banned, I think all staff members deserve the trust they are given since it takes an unbeliveable amount of time and effort onto the site and not to forget dedication to help other members, ofcourse they have some good benefits and for them to get OMM they ALL completed the correct form.

Ironic that he attacks staff members and calls out OMMs who have LEGITIMATELY EARNT THEIR RANKS less trustworthy than others that have had valid reasons to deny their application.
