Why do people care?

Alright I just want an honest opinion on this subject. I see a lot of people not just on Sythe attacking beliefs. I just want to know why it matters so damn much if someone believes in something you don't. I am not creating this because of my religious beliefs. I just want to know why people care so much if someone believes something or not.

 

Honestly this is to complicated to answer. I have no idea why people care i guess its just the way they are brought up and they think its wrong. Imo its just how your brought up. People take it to far. Its okay to disagree with people but not to the point were you want to hurt them or attack them verbaly.

 

I agree with this. Most of the time the way you're raised contributes to this type of situation.
Honestly I think people should mind their own business, and when they start harassing you (us if it's a generalization) for your beliefs then that's THEIR problem not yours.

 

Because some people think everyone should have their opinion, This is always going to happen, thats why there are governments and politics, terrorists and police, religions and atheists

imo, this is hardly a topic worth intelligent debate

evolution = when someone has a good idea, it is usually only effective if that someones tribe/group adopted it.

the problem is that a lot of people are so self-righteous, they think all their ideas should be adopted by society.

psychoanalytic theory = making fun of someone elses beliefs can divert criticism from their own ,probably flawed, beliefs.

 

People care because people are selfish, we all are, we all want people to believe in what we believe in, because it's easier. Because it's what humans do. Simple answer.

 

I'm not sure if they actually care whether or not you believe in something,
but just want have a say in it.

 

i think now no one has time to care and careless, this is machine life daily routine work even they have only few minutes to spend with gods prayer....

 

Because people feel the need to be right and important I suppose.

 

I think most humans are greedy, they want everybody to think like themselves because they cannot accept the fact that somebody else may have beliefs that are in conflict to their own.

 

Your argument makes no sense and is on par with other posts earlier on this thread.

How is their greed satisfied by people sharing their beliefs? This may be relative in few situations compared to the general whole of beliefs debated just in the SFA forum alone here on Sythe.

 

There is only one accurate model of reality, and when someone tries to argue their belief as reality, then we have a problem. Otherwise if you keep those beliefs to yourself I wouldn't have a problem.

 

yes, there is only one accurate model of reality. one we will never know.

since we can never know this, we can only give guesses as to which is the most accurate "model of reality".

if everyone just kept their beliefs to themselves, we would have no communication at all.

Because people feel the need to "help" others and share their own beliefs. Whether it be theist, atheist or individualism, they have that belief for a reason; it's beneficial to them. So why not tell people about it? When the sharing becomes aggressive, they probably feel desperate that the others need to understand them.

 

People care because that's part of human's natural emotions, and that's how we evolved. We are more likely to survive if we care for each other.

We should be sharing knowledge, rationallity and reason, not bigotry, faith, propoganda and belief.

Science is the center of forward progess, and let me tell you it has zero to do with anyones beliefs.

The people "believing" are the ones ridiculing and violently opposing it? Just as the Catholic Church (The believers) ridiculed and violently opposed Galileo and Charles Darwin (the reasoners).

 

I belive in sience thats where my beliefs are.

If the catholic church didint burn every book they could find related to sience we would we colonising space.

 

He actually could be right. Science can help us understand reality, but never prove it. Our observations can never be trusted and thus we can never be sure that we are correct.

you can have knowledge of a belief
you have have a rational belief
you can have a reasonable belief
you can have scientific bigots
you can have faith in science
you can have propaganda that supports scienct, reason and knowledge
you can have a belief in science

it is all incredibly subjective.

the progress of science does not always lead us to a better future.

also, it is irrelevant who is doing the ridiculing and it is irrelevant who is providing violent opposition.
i was just stating a model of change.

all types of people take part in this ridicule and all types of people provide violent opposition to new and seemingly dangerous beliefs.

the simple act of observing anything changes it at a metaphysical level.
therefore, we cannot know the true nature of anything.
