Runescape account values.

I feel as if the amount of recovered accounts, and the ability - If you're the original owner, to be able to recover the account at ANY TIME after the account has been sold, has decreased the overall value of accounts.

To get anywhere CLOSE to the value of a maxed main, maxed pure, and so on, you have to have an impeccable reputation here at Sythe.org, that's perfectly reasonable, and understandable but the time it takes to prove your legitimacy is tedious, and unbearable at times due to the sketchyness and amount of scammers that float around the forum. Even with the use of an OMM, giving every single tiny little detail still puts people on-edge.

I don't feel as if the depreciation of account value has anything to do with the prices instated here, neither has the fact a lot of accounts are botted/sold.

People simply aren't prepared to pay the appropriate price for a desirable account due to the possibility of it being recovered. I'd like your views on this, in-put is much appreciated, and if anyone feels the need to enlighten me on any specific points I'm sure they will.

You're 100% correct in stating that this depreciates accounts.
But there will always be scammers, and RuneScape has made it so that if you were the original owner, you can recover your account at any time. This creates a huge risk in account trades.

 

It's always been like that, and it always will be.

People will always be selling 138's and maxed pures for <100m, I personally have sold a couple of decent accounts for a pretty penny, and in today's market it's pretty much all about your trust level which determines how much you rake in for an account.

For example, my most recent sales include

-2310 total level main for 1800m [$1080 Value]
-Fully Maxed Chaotic Bersker for $610
-75 Defense Range Tank for $350

I'm 100% Positive I could scoop up similar accounts for less than a tenth of the price in less than an hour. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it.
