    Social Pressure

Sorry if the title is a bit misleading, but this topic is related to the title. I just couldn't find the right words

Peer pressure, we feel it all the time. If our friends our smoking or doing drugs, we're pressured into trying them ourselves. Of course they might not directly pressure you into it by telling you to try it and even being as extreme to say that you are no longer their friend if you don't. However, when everybody in a group is doing it and you're not the only one who's not, you feel the need to try it. (If you don't, that's great, you have a strong mind and I respect you for that.)

But this type of "group peer pressure" is not felt only in this situation. We experience it in communities and countries. If other people are doing this one thing, we are compelled to do it, too.

For example, we have Sythe. In the something for all section, somebody started to say that something in a topic is not clearly defined or is overgeneralized. I believe that this was a fad once.
Also, this not only applies so Sythe, but other communities; people respect the staff and maybe want to be one, too, so there are back-seat moderators and people making themselves look like asses.

    probably tl;dr, so

What are some examples of social pressure that you see (not stated above, but if you have something to add to what I said, please do) in everyday life?

And obviously, the quality of the person exhibiting a certain action or the quantity of people doing so matters. I've heard that 3 is the psychological number.
So what type of people make you feel the pressure to do what they do, and/or what is the reasoning behind the number 3?

I mean, in the group pressure, if they really are your friends, they will understand why you don't do it, or if you don't feel safe with, i think it will be always asses, like in runescape, that stupid people, that we can't do almost anything on forums they're like "Stop right there, you can't do this!" like forum moderator wannabe? I understand how you feel brother, but that kind of people will always be on the world, like if your group obligate you to do stuff that you don't feel safe, for me, they are not really friends.

But yeah you are right on your point.

Not necessarily the same type of pressure, but something I see regularly..

There's social pressure on (mainly women) to listen to the same music as their friends and everybody around them, regardless of the message it sends. People have lost the ability to tell the difference between real music and shit music because they just listen to whatever the media or their friends tell them to and say they like it to fit in. It's ridiculous.

Lady Gaga is a big example. Everybody thinks she's amazing but in all honesty she's just going to die at 40 like every other whore "singer." And every one of her songs that even incorporates an instrument uses like the same 4 chords as every other pop song.

There's just too many no-talent whores getting worshiped by people with no taste.
