Dial-Up Internet: A Relic from the Past

From the early 90's to the early 2000's many of us had to experience this version of the Internet where broadband wasn't available, and actually had to dial-up a connection. We are talking some of the slowest internet speeds ever known to man, and actually getting kicked off the internet when somebody would call your House-Phone which some of you may not have ever heard of either. Times were simpler back then and the Internet is readily available nowadays and simply always waiting on you. For the newer generation that has never heard of this take a look at the peril the older generation had to go through, and for the older folks on the site enjoy some of the nostalgic sounds of what the Internet once was.

    A Few Fun Facts

    • Were talking 5-15 minutes to load up the Runescape Client, and maximum speeds of 56kb/sec where as today the average is 50mb/sec+
    • Anybody calling the House-Phone would result in being kicked off the Internet (Complete Disconnection), and would have to "Dial-Up" the Internet once the Phone call was over with!
    • Till this day some people still use Dial-Up Internet in remote regions of the world where telephone lines only exist.
    • Although the connection was slow it was more consistent then satellites at the time meaning on satellite Internet you would click and it would respond a few seconds later where as dial-up would register the click right-away but take longer to load.

Dial-Up Internet: A Relic from the Past

This post gives me such bad memories from the past with my experience with Dial-Up Internet LOL. I remember specifically I would go pking on my low level pure back in the day and then I would just randomly disconnect like several times. It's crazy to think that we even survived on Dial-Up internet on a game like RuneScape. And trying to like load anything was the absolute worst. Opening a web browser was like a nightmare.
