    Destiny 2 Masterthread

    Hey all!

Destiny 2 is finally here for all systems, including the PC. It came out around 1pm EST yesterday for PC after a much anticipated 1month hype after console release. I absolutely love the fact that we are playing a halo game on PC, where it can run way above par and a whole new set of users can experience the coveted Halo hype.

After playing the first hours of Destiny 2 release, I've come across quite a few problems, and much to my surprise, I wasn't alone. Servers aren't dedicated so I sort of expected that to be an issue, maybe a queue but it wasn't. Destiny requires actually quite a bit of bandwidth to play, getting stuck at the load screen unless you have certain upload and download speeds. Although we all hate playing with people who have latency problems, it was quite a aggravating experience, and they provided no real 'help' on their help guides. Mostly consisted of recommendations like Please plug in an Ethernet cord instead of using Wi-Fi. Yeah, not very helpful. Along that one problem, I came across several others. With each error named after some inanimate object, Marionberry, centipede, etc kept popping up. Once you figured out all the issues to hear the sweet sound of the campaign, I knew I was in for a great adventure once again.

The controls on PC, are same as any other shooter. Not really much of a difference, but as a former Xbox guy, I feel like im missing part of the experience while playing without the controller. The button layout is adjustable, which is nice. Something that has me on the edge, and a pet-peeve of mine is the inability to change specific volumes. I tend to keep game sounds high, while I turn the music to 1 or 10% as it really takes away from the game when the volume is really overpowering. You can adjust master volume but no specifics. Gameplay is smooth and well rounded. The detail is nice, definitely a nice touch with the Nvidia optimization.

Now that my first experiences are expressed, without giving up much of the gameplay or campaign story, here is the Destiny 2 Master thread. Please share anything Destiny 2 related in here as well as discussion! I will try my best to keep up with updates here :D

I am curious about the same. I played about 100-150 hours at most on destiny 1, beat the campaign and maybe one of the DLC. How is the actual game play? I have heard that it is basically just a D1 clone with a few new added abillites and a better skill tree. Now, that's what I have heard from youtubers, since I have no friends. But seriously how is it? I heard this time it actually had a plot to it, but one thing I will say is that I will not purchase this game if the AI is the same bullet sponge bullshit as the first one. I mean, its not the worst AI, but even with a revolver only the game seemed pretty predictable and only saw my self dying a few times in time I just over extend myself trying to act like a badass like Alex Jones.

Is this loot better and more rewarding? How is multiplayer BTW? I actually didn't enjoy multiplayer, which is odd since I only like multiplayer and RPG games. I kept playing destiny because

    1. I have a hard on for bungie because of Halo 1-3
    2. Reminded me of the constant loot grind of D3 and Borderlands
    3. It was relevant at the time

    Why I quit:

    1. Better games like rainbow six took over my life
    2. felt bored with Multiplayer after the story and constant grinding materials to get a piece of gear and summer was coming and I basically just quit over night.

It was one of those games I played 24/7 for 3 weeks, then stopped randomly and uninstalled for disk space.

But I am interested on hearing an unbiased review for "is this game worth it and should I wait until Bug fixes, Server fixes, and DLC" or is this game really amazing and show what bungie can do... because if so I will buy it on xb1, but if not I may get the new assassins creed since I have heard its more RPG like and seems interesting.

Anything I reply will be My own opinion.
The actual gameplay is quite similar to Destiny 1. The AI are slightly better, but its still a spongey feel to them. The game progression recommends firepower levels per area you are about to dive in. That being said, sometimes the AI can be stronger than anticipated. There is a slight skill tree, and many subclasses you can chose for each class of character you pic, similar to Destiny 1.

As far as the plot/story, I like it. its interesting if you take the time to learn the lore and not power through it. I feel as though the world is a lot more open than Destiny 1, and the world events keep you in touch with other players. Although on the PC, most people are in a discord, so not many voice chat.

Grinding is and will always be part of Destiny, as it is what creates longevity for the game. I don't mind the constant grind, as long as im working towards endgame. You can run around and pick up items for 'Rep' to get high tier loot from the NPCs. This is nice because the loot is endgame quality stuff sometimes.

Multiplayer in the game is integrated. no matter what you do or where you go, you will have a chance to run into people doing the same 'quest' or roaming the planet. I got to end game level yesterday and tried some of the PVP gameplay and it was actually really fun. Sort of like a doom feel on the type of game mode I was playing (I cant remember what it was) and im pretty cool with that. The gear in PVP doesn't significantly outweigh users with shit gear. Yes you have a better advantage, but by no means are you unable to kill efficiently if you don't grind your life out.

I personally am also a bungie junkie as well and im satisfied with the base content for now. That really sums up all your points you mentioned and I hope this helps!

That's was a good response and when I said "multiplayer" I really meant "PvP" so thanks for making that distinction. In destiny 1 I NEVER saw other players..ever, but maybe that's because it was console and I didn't get it as soon as it dropped.

I noticed in destiny one I felt like there were a lot of over powered weapons like one greenish rifle you get from some boss that's like broken and turns users using the archmage type class able to regen super dumb fast.

I'm glad to see that the game is better and I like the idea that it is more "open world", since I felt that Destiny 1 tried to make it seem like there was some huge open world to explore, when in reality most of it is empty and more like "areas" where the only NPC were enemies, which isn't something I like in an open world. I personally didn't like how in d1, you could really only buy upgrades and guns from merchants at the home base (forgot the name).

I am going to deffidently take a look at this since I am a huge bungie and loot grind fan. I may chose PC, but I only have a laptop with a 970m so idk how well it will run.

One last question. How long did it take you to get to max level and is light still part of the game mechanics. Also, I'd there any micro transactions that give an advantage (I don't mean DLC or pre order loot *unless preorder loot is broken*).

As far as micro-transactions go, I think there is one merchant that you can buy some coin things from, and then you can buy like camos to change your color on your armor or skins for things. I think you might get random weapons in those loot crates you can buy with the coins as well. not really much, usually every game has something like that were you can customize further with micro transactions. its not worth it, as of right now but there is a number of changes coming up.

Believe recommended GFX card for PC is a 970 so you're in the clear, and ill be glad to play with you.

Actually im not even sure if level 20 is max level, but I hit that with playing the game since release. max weapon level is like 300 at the moment, but you will have to do some grinding to get the max damage right now. im playing campaign and I have around 205, while doing the community events for rare drops and occasional PVP, of course for the rares as well. Also not using the highest level gear I have but running cooldown perks as im a warlock
