Just Found out my dog has Cancer

Hey Guys.. A couple days ago our dog started to have troubles walking and all that so we took him to the Doctor to look him up. They Said he has Cancer and about 2 months left to live. We have had This dog for 8 years and i was expecting him to die of his age really not this way. So fucking terrible time for this to happend and as attached as i am to this dog will just make it much harder since this was the dog i grew up with.

 

I know the feeling, only my dog had to be put down because of various things.

It sucks, a lot. But at least you made sure your dog had the best life possible and it was happy. I know it's the last thing you're thinking about but I recently just got a new puppy and despite what you think, it is possible to have the same bond again

 

Always hard when pets die, but it's a part of life, you look after them until they're old and unable to continue living, just as someone will do with you. You should just spend as much time with your pet as you can while he has time left.

My cat got a tumour when I was a kid and it was pretty tough taking her to the vet to be put down, but I knew since then that the time we have with our pets we should cherish.

I'm really sorry about your dog, just look after him until he goes.

 

It's a very painfull and emotional feeling. I had a cat that followed when me when i was 12 years old. He stay'd with us. I found it lucky and exciting to have my first own pet. When i felt depressed i felt more happy by spending time with my cat.

When i was 18 he felt very sick and wet, i don't know exatly what happened. The doctor told me that he won't survive.

I know how it feels when you lost a pet, a pet is a part of the family. I'm sure your dog won't forget about you. Stay strong mate

 

Thanks, It's the fact that i am turning 16 in a month so i've really had the dog since i grew up that's probably what makes it so much harder.

 

I'm sorry to hear man Im saying this in the nicest way i can, i hope you enjoy the last few months with your pet, I have a cat, and i'm dreading the day he passes as i don't deal with death well. So i wish you the best of luck through the mourning, of the loss of your pet.

Not good man, I had my pup since he was 8 weeks old, he was a french bull mastiff, I owned him in New Zealand, and brought him over to Australia when I moved here. He was only 5 years old when he was diagnosed with cancer, and the vert said he had a few months to live, maximum. He was slow, couldn't jump up and always moping around. We put him on steroids, and while he was on them he was great, but the day came, and we had to get him put down. I know the feeling buddy, real heart breaking, dog's aren't just pets when they've been around the family for so long.. they become family. I hate to sound rude, but you'll be sad for the first few weeks, and after that it'll all be back to normal. The loss of a dog doesn't have the same affect on a human as a human loss would. Very sad though..

 

I know exactly what you are feeling i had gotten a Jack Russell terrier when i was 8 years old. Was the best dog ever. Stuck by my side through everything she was 14 and was diagnosed with cancer and the vet said that they could try treatment but there was no guarantee that it would work. I decided to have her put down as i could tell she was suffering as her breathing was deep and raspy. I'm sorry OP

 

Thanks man, And 14? You are extremly lucky to have a dog that lived for that long. i really wish it would of been same with mine

 

I don't think you would.. the longer the dog stays with you, the worse it is to part with them?

 

Well i guess in 1 way good and 1 way bad, The fact that you actually get to have the dog for longer. the bad part is that you will get more attached to it i guess.

 

Just remember to stay strong and realize that your dog is suffering and that it is best for him to go. No matter how hard it maybe keep your chin up.

 

I've owened 2 dogs and have one currently , i can't even begin to imagine the pain of finding out your tragic news... My dog has had its fair share of problems, Born with a hernia which had to be surgically removed and her leg problems caused her to limp when walking and to constantly be in pain, most pain ful thing as a owner to see when my dogs in pain.. Don;t think about the sad times your going through right now with your dog think about the happy, wonderful 8 years you had with your best pal dogs are really mans best friend he stayed by your side for that long , just cherish the memories and everyone passes away eventually , some before others :/ , if your dog starts feeling terrible pain , i would say you should put him down rather then him suffer through pain for 2 months just so you can spend a little more time together, anyways man i just hope the best for you ,, this thread really upset my day man :'(
