Hello Everyone,

Will keep this simple as I'm rather busy and no one likes a TL;DR.

#1 Add a 30 day buffer to newcomers offering services where they have no rights to offer services/create threads < still allowing those who want to post threads to have services completed : IE John Doe wants 99 runecrafting can still post.

Why do the above. < Because anyone can scam and if we add a buffer they cannot just scamquit come back and repeat day after day week after week to fill their IRL needs. With a 30 day buffer it stops this from being an option. EDIT: to better fit the entire community. As @Tyler mentioned this is blocked because of FREE market rules, but would love to keep it here for possibly another solution similar that still allows the open market aspect <3

#3 A better TOS/Guidlines for trading, right now many people do not read them < which yes is their fault but maybe we can give them a reason to learn better practices, please comment how this can be done with your own viewpoint.

#4 removed : @ABM for making a valid point : I was not viewing this on an emotional level yet as an industry that trades, simply looking at it as you would a T shirt that is traded < IE when a T shirt is made in Vietnam you list it as made it Vietnam, nothing more than this. However dealing with humans one must understand both sides and thankfully with ABM's insight I understand how this is seen through others eyes. This would also help save staff time from circumventing unnecessary instances.

1) I'd agree with a one week buffer but it won't happen because "free market."

2) Will never happen has already been suggested a dozen times and it's just a dumb idea in general.

3) What can Sythe do? People who were scammed are free to pursue the people who scam them through other means at their own risk.

4) Not all 3rd world people are scumbag scammers, it's not just people who come from third world countries that scam, no support on this, if you ask the provider they should be honest with you and if they lie should get a TWC or something though.

 

1) It's still a free market, you don't just go into International Trading because you want to you have background checks etc in most situations, the only thing "free" about this market is the gold they are scamming from it.

2) I didn't know it was a suggestion already and not sure how offering an option to help reimburse others is a stupid idea.

3) Sythe should attempt to protect their platforms users better in regards to scammers, not sure how we can produce about better method but it should be something in discussion.



4) never said all were scumbags nor did i call them scumbags however they have more to gain than anyone fromt eh smaller more common scams, and issues with jagex based off their geolocation.

 

1. I see the logic behind it but I don't support its implementation. Like said above "free market" is a thing which involves very little control over it and this heavily restricts newcomers to the forum/market. Users should be free to market how they please and if someone feels uncomfortable with them they are free to use any MM as they wish.

2. I don't see this passing, if ever at all. This won't do anything good and users can freely give/deposit money towards community repayment of their own free will already. Having a deposit for a potential scam will already set a negative light on things and make users feel like the site already deems them a threat when in reality, anybody here can scam for any reason.

3. It isn't Sythe's fault that people do not exercise caution when trading others. The forum won't legally act on behalf of a victim over scammed pixels.

4. No support to the original idea, but like said above, if this is a concern of those buying they are free to ask the provider in question where the worker is based off of and be informed that way. Or they can simply request to have workers from X region only on the account. Same with requesting that nobody from VZ touches it. If the provider lies then it's grounds for twc/punishment.

There is a huge threat to people trading here, there are constant scams ranging fromt he smallest 5m scams to obv ones that happened within the last 7 days. PEOPLE SHOULD SEE AND FEEL THE THREAT OF BEING SCAMMED AS IT IS A REAL ISSUE CURRENTLY. On a daily basis you have 3rd world - high donated users scamming constantly. There needs to be a system in place to restrict the casual scammers < IE the ones who survive IRL off it it from their weekly scams to the ones who have high donors. We need a dep rank that can be used to refund issues with accounts < IE something being ruined all the way up to the scamquits. < You could choose not to put your deposit down thats your call but some of us wish to add that extra level of security for our clients and future clients.

There really should be more in place to shine light on the issues that are currently active.




There is no simple fix tot his, but we can make a better way for the future.

So if you were allowed to offer service same day as you joined why other newcomers woud have 30 day buffer =?

I already had a well vouched profile on powerbot with over 100+ positive feedback, these "users scamming" are not new but return scammers over and over again for low amounts/ scamming their banks.

However if that rule was in place, I would wait do to it being the rules of the site and hope others wouldn't mind to protect others.

1. Ur powerbot acc has nothing to do with sythe you were newcomer and had chance to start offering service first day so shoud everyone else

Personally, I’ve thought the marketplace needs some refreshment for a while now, so thanks for posting ideas. I agree with some of your points, most specifically about 3W worker disclosure. Not sure how I feel about the rest.

I will say that I think the “free market” card people throw out is absurd. Just because it’s a free market doesn’t mean there aren’t rules or that new rules can’t be implemented. That’s ridiculous, it’s still a free market. Let’s look at an IRL example: I live in the USA, so I’ll default to that. We operate under a free market. However we still have PLENTY of laws, rules, and guidelines that dictate when, where, how, and who can buy, sell, and trade certain goods.

At the end of the day there needs to be balance. You don’t want to promote an environment that helps scammers excel, but you also have to be careful in limiting users from B/S/T as it can affect overall forum activity.

 

I support the third world worker disclosure, I don't support any of the rest as I don't think new users should be limited for 30 days. That won't help anything, look at Pak and Stick. If the person has an ill-willed intent they'll scam regardless. I believe most people are generally good.

I'm not insinuating we ban 3rd world people or anyone of that matter from the site.

Just better tools in place to stop the day to day scams that could help others.

Also via MM's etc, some people are so new to this they have no idea about any of these current tools.

Idk how to fix it but as a WHOLE I believe we can.

If people are scam quiting and next day coming back to scam quit again it will help add a buffer to the ones who are day to day scamming.

Since they would have to wait 30 days for their new account to scam on they would eventually stop considering this platform as an option to scam everyday.

There needs to be something in effect to stop people from coming back daily to repeat their scams.

I can happily support the third world country part, after all we are getting banned for these sorts of things on a daily basis.

 

I get that but I believe most people aren't scammers and it's not fair to punish all for what a few do.

 

You are looking at it like we are punishing, yet we are protecting, and show me 10 newcomers over the last 60 days that are still here providing services and not banned or twc and ill show you 50 that are gone <3

I get what you mean and it can have negative problems too, but at the same time at what cost do we allow them to also freely roam around.

The problem is, there is no language barrier to say what you can and cannot do.

 

I 100% support newcomers shouldn't be able to provide services/account sales either until a certain amount of time has passed or something like 100+ posts which aren't spam.

Or add a red alert banner at the top of the thread warning viewers that the account providing the services/sales hasn't been registered for very long so be extra cautious.
