I have always hated these, just to start. If someone is being reported, false or not, the community should be able to see the MAJORITY of the information in a scam report/ban evader report. Unless the information compromises someone's IRL safety directly by being made public in a report it should be shown. And even that information can be shown in a deleted post or made public by a Mod with redacted information, that is completely doable.

I respect this post saying that sometimes information is extremely sensitive, but I don't respect the fact that it is "sometimes not possible", on the basis that the info is sensitive. If that is the case users should instead create a report through a moderator themselves, then make a public case with the mods help to ensure that everything that needs to be redacted is properly done so. @Champ if you want to throw some light my way at least.

Our new mod @Andy Samberg even doesn't like the majority of private reports, let's get a shoutout for the work this guy has been doing woop woop. In all honesty, because personally, I didn't support this idea before, here is the link to the thread both of these responses have come from [DENIED] Freedom of information .

Another post from Andy that is the main point of this entire thread is,

I'm not trying to stop ALL private reports, as I myself know that some information shouldn't be shown at all. But as he says there "we're in agreement, but this suggestion isn't what either of us wants. Just want private reports that don't need to be private, made public." Obviously, this all comes down to staff's discretion, which I am more than willing to read and accept should they agree that the report is properly private information. Let me know what you think, I just think that too many reports are private as of now, and this should probably be changed.

Yeah I still think a lot of people make things private for no reason and it makes it more difficult for staff to deal with and reduces transparency.

Once again, private reports are obviously necessary, but making a report private for no reason doesn't seem to be good for anyone.

This has not changed. Although I agree people shouldn't make reports private, it does reduce drama related issues that could be caused.

We are not looking to change this at the current time, maybe in the future.

    This suggestion has been denied.
