Removal of autobumpers (again).

So before I begin, let me give a little history, basically, auto bumpers were banned and then allowed again in short, here the suggestion which banned them in first place:

This was reverted because @Dev Zach asked Richard to revert it so he sells his auto bumper (not even a joke this is what actually happened) and it was reverted (this is what happened according to Zach), so at the time, I gave my auto bumper out for free, to annoy Zach (Ofc wasn't going to set up for free, so I charged for that)

Let me explain why going back to manual bumping assistance tools or banned auto bumpers is good thing rather than a bad thing, so ill sum up all questions and explain why.

This benefit wouldn't be removed as you could already bypass it at the time by using a web browser bot such as selenium script or something along the lines and passing the cookies to an HTTP, The perk would simply be moved to auto bump assistance tools as they basically operate with same code, so the tool would stay in place.

Spoiler: What benefits does this bring to the market?

It makes it better for the guest users on Sythe which should be the main focus, a lot of people auto-bump and aren't even online, this makes it easier for users to find buyers and benefits the active buyers and sellers as their bump will go a lot further and trust me this actually makes a massive difference when half of the thread that isn't active aren't bumped constantly, so to sum up, active users in the market will benefit

I'm not online 24/7 and have been bumping 24/7 for over a year now, to say a lot people aren't getting away with it is not true.

An auto bump assistance tool is basically an auto bumper but you have type !bump every time you want to bump, the bot will actually pm you let know

I'll give a free auto bump assistance tool out (I already have one would just need to slightly update the code), and anyone who paid me for setup in past (if they have proof) I will set their one up for free. I will not be selling one again, just to make that clear, so no benefit to me

It's no secret some people run multiple sythe accounts, with auto bumper it can be near impossible to caught them due to no opportunity to mess up, so this makes it possible to caught people

I think it more benefits than lost for the average user, it would increase site activity, actual activity rather then are the current market which is just spammed by inactive users, it would be an overall benefit to everyone at the end of the day,

final note: this doesn't really benefit me, I am on my way out of the market as I have other business ventures which are sufficiently better than this one, so this won't really affect me long term but sort of trying to look out for the little guy on my way out

I'm biased as I sell an auto bumping tool myself, but I do wanna point out that I don't believe manual bumping tools will fix the issue. My own tool is a Windows program. I could add a button to it that will do a single bump and add a notification/timer once you're allowed to bump again. I believe most other auto bumpers react to Discord messages (slash command or just a specific message to bump).
It's very easy to automate both of those. With my tool you could have an auto clicker click the bump button every 4 hours (add a random 1-15 minute delay to not get noticed).
With discord messages you can make a discord bot to do the trick, use something like AHK to automatically send messages etc.

I believe the issue is people bumping when they're not ready to trade (against the rules currently). It is indeed only enforced when these users get reported.
A possible solution is staff occasionally PMing users who have recently bumped to see if they're ready to trade or not.

 

I keep seeing this argument brought up, you can turn a manual bump assistance tool into an auto bumper, etc, but not quite as selective as one might think.

Moderators were able to moderate this to a great degree before, there were few methods they used, without me going into great detail about their methods, let me use basic logic one. Is it possible for someone to never miss a bump opportunity? it's not possible without mistakes every now and again, so it can be clear when the user is and isn't using a tool that is not allowed,

Many of these arguments are kind of redundant as they were moderated before, so they can be moderated again.

there is a real question about whether it is possible or not moderate the question is what is your personal preference for than anything else, an active market which would be more users as they aren't get ghosted 50% of the time or less active market because users are constantly getting ghosted?

Gonna be very difficult to proof, especially when random times are added.

I believe moderating it again + making the punishment more severe would be a solution here.
1st offense could be an infraction, second offence a thread lock of X time, third offence temp bans etc

 

I don't think this option atm, the staff are pretty useless tbh you have fucking ember on the team LMFAO

 

I support this - possible to change autobumper to reflect auto-bumping for all except 2x bump periods (8 hours)? - this would signify the period in which the user is 'sleeping' as technically it is against the rules to bump threads when you are not able to trade. I would say a good portion of these people who auto-bump are 'one-man crews' so an argument that they may have a worker/other user ready to trade 24/7 would be invalid.
