    [DENIED]Reduce punishment for excessive bumping

    Example of current punishment:
    ⭐⭐▐ YanLiLi Shop▐ 24/7 Online▐ BUYING 07/R3 GOLD▐ BEST RATES▐ BITCOIN / PayPal /Western Union) ▐ ⭐⭐
(This is a more extreme case)

(all punishment have been same across the board with other threads that have been locked for it)

I believe the punishment is a bit harsh for the first and second-time offense for excessive bumping. My suggestion is very simple and is to do report a scammer style punishment Do NOT post unless you are directly involved in report [YOU WILL BE INFRACTED OR TEMPORARILY BANNED]
    • 1st offense: 3-day thread lock
    • 2nd offense:5 day thread lock
    • 3rd offense: 7-day thread lock
Rather than the current which is just a straight 7-day thread lock.

The only reason for this suggestion is more for the newer user who may have lack of knowledge of the rules and who may get discouraged by 7-day thread lock and if they are only operating in one market, could potentially make them leave sythe all together

By my understanding you get an infraction the first time its excessively bumped and if there are 3 instances of excessive bumping then it is a 7 day lock.

However by the way @Gladiator worded it seems if its gone unreported and then 3 excessive bumps are reported in quick succession then they'll give the thread a 7 day lock.

I'll support with some minor changes such as if they had been excessively bumped 3 or more times without the prior infraction then a 3 day thread lock is appropriate and if they continue to excessively bumped 7 day lock seems appropriate to me.

If they did have the prior infraction, then I think the 5 day lock is appropriate and future offenses will be met with the 7 day lock.

    This is correct

There are 6 excessive bumps in the example you linked. Had the thread been reported after just one, they would have received an infraction but considering they broke the rule 6 times within the first page, I don't think the week long lock is harsh.

This is what was discussed between the staff team:
    1-2 excessive bumps = infraction
3+ = one week thread lock
If you return after the week long thread lock and continue excessive bumping = 2 week ban

The bump timer was reduced from 8 hours to 4(2 if you're receiving vouches), so we didn't want people abusing an already lenient bump timer, hence the 'harsh' punishment of locking threads if you excessively bump.

There is on-going discussion with @Matthew to see if we can have an automated function which doesn't allow people to post on any thread under 2 hours to combat those unaware of the changes/rule.

If you don't warn them they may have been unaware they were breaking any rule which i think is the whole point @ABM is trying to make. So they had x amount of excessive bumps in a certain period & therefore should take a week off from trying to start their business?

    That seems harsh.

    [DENIED]Reduce punishment for excessive bumping

What @ABM is referring to is more along the lines of the first offense be linked to the entire series of "oopsies"/excessive bumps, not just one specific bump <4 being linked to one infraction. They may not know and the thread have been overlooked for a week+, which is allowing these buildups of excessive bumping.

In the case of the 6+ rule breaks for the one thread, he's relatively new so he was unaware. I also had this problem a bit ago & had multiple bumps on a thread of mine where I was allowed to post so I simply assumed it was alright (there was no soft-alert or any automated function which gave me a warning under x amount of time frame).

I think ABM is making a solid case here & I agree with what he's going for. However, I do think it should only take one time to get the job done & it should go straight back to a 7-day lock after the first offense.

I wasn't aware of this at all,
I was going off the 4-5 threads that I have reported and just assumed the 7-day thread lock was standard punishment.

I Guess this would be a solution to this thread.

Here's my issue with this & why I'm siding with @Gladiator.

The rules aren’t there so that people can break them AND THEN be reminded (warned) that they have to be followed. The rules are in place for everyone to read prior to engaging in business through the forums. If a sythe user chooses to be lazy and bump excessively without familiarizing themselves with the rules, then that’s on them.

Also, being “new and unaware” is not a valid excuse for rule breaking.

I noticed that the main forum rules page has the excessive bump rules listed. However, it might prove beneficial to add them to each of the main trading section's individual rules page as well (gold sales, account sales, etc.).

The forum bump system is still a relatively recently implemented system. I don't think that using strict enforcement is a bad thing here. Just my opinion!

No support, the market is already competitive and excessive bumpers should learn the hard way every other person did before them.

No support, don't excessively bump and this won't be a problem for you. Not very hard.

Edit: Especially after the reduction from 8 -> 4 hours

    @ABM

Just an update: @video & @Sythe worked diligently and this update is now in effect. Users can no longer bump market threads in under two hours and this should help combat those unaware of our bump rule changes.
