[DENIED] Lets start using the Vouch forum properly and stop the bumping loophole?

Also, to clarify - I'm indifferent if posts described such as within the OP bump the thread or not. I'm against vouches being disallowed on market threads in general.

 

Yes, posting on the thread would not bump the post. Only pressing the bump button (which would be limited to the 8 hours in the Sythe rules) would bump the thread. This may add a bit more interest in Sythe gold as I remember hearing an early bump for gold being thrown around too, don't know if that is implemented yet or not.

 

As a gold merchant thanks for explaining why. I understand your point of view and I would like to think the same if I had my customers vouch on my gold topics, however being as unbiased as I can be as a gold merchant for many years on and offsite, I think the negative outweigh the positive that you shed light upon.

 

Thanks for the detailed reply. As a gold seller I have had mixed feelings about this for a while, but now that many sellers are starting to take the piss with this I think the negatives outweigh the positives.

If making the bump button the only way to bump the topic is a feasible solution then I'd be more than happy to support such a change. It's not the vouches I have an issue with. It's the market manipulation as a result of excessive bumping.

 

That was the one problem that I thought about, but I figured if the system itself is possible, it probably wouldn't be too hard to add something along the lines of "X days of autobumping" for Sythe Gold as well to counteract that. People might even figure out or already know a way to automate pressing the button every 8 hours, I'm not too sure what all people can code.

I remember I once supported to not allow people to use Sythe gold to bypass a 8 hour bump requirement.

I don’t see why businesses with large volume are allowed to suppress the smaller guy who follows the rules.

This is more than better of a reason. A free market equalizes everyone - does not allow anyone to have an edge over one another. But, clearly this isn't the case here. The people with more customers will continue to get more customers and vice versa

In that case I’ll buy $1000 in Sythe gold and will never be at the bottom of the first page. If only 10 gold shops did thus, they would essentially get 90% of the business, because lets be real here, no one goes to page 2.

This is unfair competition and people shouldn’t be able to use their money to bump their post and bypass the 8 hour rule that was.

 

I wanna say it reduces the cooldown to 6 hours or something so it isn't a huge difference, it's just 4 bumps a day instead of 3. And who knows, it might spark more of an interest in buying / selling Sythe Gold. It's awarded via posts / likes so it might even encourage users to post more often so they can sell it to a market who wants to use it for business purposes.

 

I do not support this suggestion. It's not our place to create a market to make the lesser traders equal to the more higher volume traders. Larger sellers will always have the advantage over newcomers, and small sellers that do not have a very big reputation. Those sellers you are referring to, also have built their reputation over the years and hindering them to equal the field out because they're getting more trade volume is not right. I do not see anything that they are doing wrong.

 

I support this not to balance a market but as this is something that will get rid of people having their threads bumped by vouches within that 8 hour timeframe. Apparently I do it wrong when I am actively selling but I think it is only fair to the rest of the community that I don’t take those free bumps. Definitely shouldn’t be used as free bumps.

 

Although that is true and as much as I agree that this isn't a fairytale community where everyone is equal, buying bumps in the form of "vouches" bypasses the 8 hour bump rule.

Wrong. You, yourself bumping it you would be punished, as would they. If Arcus / his workers bumps their threads before the limit they would be punished. If a customer bumps their thread with a successful transaction bump, they would not be punished. With that said, you are more than welcome to send your customers to the desired thread and receive a vouch / free bump (if that's how you would like to look at it).

 

Thanks for you thoughts but newcomer accounts "vouching" on market topics, with no other contribution to the community is nothing more than market manipulation and indeed bypassing the 8-hour bump rule.

 

No support, I don't think there is a problem with leaving a vouch on the users market thread. As @Champ mentioned above, if a worker/owner is bumping the thread early, they should be punished. I also don't see anything wrong with incentivizing a vouch, users do not have to vouch and are free to ignore it.

Those exact "newcomers" you are speaking about, draws attraction / attention to this website. Whether or not they're vouching for the sole benefit of theirself they still are being made aware of Sythe.org. So how is it hurting anything by allowing them to send the users to vouch on their thread? New user is welcomed to the site (whether or not he stays is his choice). The only thing this rule would do, is hinder larger traders and equal the playing field for smaller traders (we would not do this).

 

Without swaying away from the fact its constantly bumping the topic, please give reason for a non support. I invite @Champ to do the same as you're sticking together on this one.

My problem isn't the vouches, it's the fact they bump the topics, and the merchants exemplified in the OP are clearly only sending their customers there for that reason.

 

And that's why having my offsite feedback in my thread title would not be allowed? because it does not benefit sythe.org?

These vouches do not benefit sythe.org at all. They are just spammy accounts which in most cases never contribute to the forums.

 

That is an opinion. What happens if that "spammy" account has never heard of Sythe, vouches on Arcus's thread and then becomes active in the community? Possible? Sure. This market is a free trade system, and will not be hindered because small traders do not have the same traffic (everyone started from nothing). If you want to have your traders vouch on your profile, you are more than welcome to.
