[DENIED] IPAudit similar for checking if the user was banned/pardon

I would like to propose a suggestion that allows people to lookup Sythe member to see if they were previous banned for any reason, received any TWC, or DNT. It should be a feature in the profile page with the IP Audit. Even though someone has been pardoned for an offense here in Sythe, there should be a public record for these offenses of each Member.

 

Well we were supposed to start adding pardon request threads to the pardons decision thread with approval/denial but it seems that never started. As for TWC/DNT that may be a little more difficult besides doing the manual work.

I wouldn't be opposed to this but its already fairly easy for staff to check. Not sure why having ease of access for regular users would be a bad idea.

 

No support, what abm said, plus anything disputable aka ban/twc/dnt are all public access, you can find it if you want it. Someone shouldnt be held liable after the fact. Just because someone did something in the past doesn't mean they are a bad person now.

 

Supporting this because the people who doesn't support this probably had been banned before. Also, It would allow the community to know more about each other and detect scammers. I also want to mention an idea to the "IP AUDIT" that there should be warning (Maybe make it yellow) if that sythe user is using a VPN. Seems like all the sketchy people are using VPN's nowadays. Is there a way to see if a user is using a VPN with only the last three digits of an IP?

 

Doesn't matter if people who say no have banned been or anything before, define "detect scammers" I scammed 6 dollars 6 years ago, but since then got trusted with over 400 dollars in gold by someone going first? Because I scammed before doesn't mean I will now. And no to the yellow as VPN, that would make it too easy for people to assume home ip's and users would be reporting people left and right, even though there is also wireless ip's too. Mods can see vpn wireless and home, that is all that matters.

 

Okay, Maybe Scamming $6 doesn't matter but scamming $6 consistently throughout years past does show no progress. The yellow to show as VPN would just be for information for the crowd. It's not like MOD's aren't TWC'in people already for using a VPN being inactive or just registered.

Wow, so you are saying that scams, which are expunged via dispute/pardon should stay on record after already expunged? :thinkin: please explain.

 

I mean if you do a crime in real life and you're on the record, do you think its going to just disappear? lol

Pardoned users get a clean slate, again not branding them like cattle.

I don't know how many suggestions I post that on but its at least once a week.

 

Maybe just not allow pardons full stop? Sad to see people who are 'very trusted', who "scam quit", then pardon a few months later with a sob story. I personally don't agree with it.

 

If you scammed a lot of money and then repay them back and ask for pardon and approved, there is a good chance they'll scam again. lol

The public record for scams being the scam report being archived after being dealt with, nothing is deleted on sythe and all users are free to look into another users past. Pardons are only given when the staff feel said user has showed remorse and won't scam again if staff were consistently getting it wrong and users were pardoning and instantly scamming again yes we'd have a problem. From what I can see this isn't the case nor is there an issue. It's a similar case for twc's upon good trading practices being shown it's removed, however their twc dispute is still visible for anyone to see.

 

Private reports, though?

 

Can ask mods about private reports, they will at least tell you the name of the person if they have action taken against them at all, and usually if they take action they are tagged regardless. Meaning you can usually see what has happened.

 

Support. The argument that its all on Sythe go find it yourself is a little dumb as some users have tens of thousands of posts, and google searches don't turn up everything. To support the "clean slate" idea as much as I dislike it, I think a link that opens up a list of reports they were involved in could be added to their profile. Whether they won the report or not regardless of outcome it would just link the reports and users would be free to research the information themselves.

Edit: Users reporting scammers could have a box that they link the reported users Sythe account to, which would automatically update their "scam (or less offensive sounding word) involvement list". This way staff wouldn't have any extra work added.

The information is already public with a little archive sifting. You are more than welcome to ask any current staff members about a user or look in the archives before doing business with them.
