[DENIED] Add Thread Section Icons on "Sythe Flat" UI

So I actually just started using the "SytheFlat" theme, because I personally find is easier on my eyes, and I like dark/grey themes because it just looks so much cleaner.

That being said, one thing that kinda annoyed me about the "SytheFlat" is that each Category has that default blue bubble icon. This is fine and all, but after using sythe for 6 years, I have picked up on finding thread sections by quickly scanning for the icon, instead of reading the titles. Because on SytheMordern, there is different icon on each category, it makes it 10x more easy to find the thread section I want to view.

Without these icons, I find myself having to read each topic, or getting confused where I am, because all I see is the same blue bubble. Oh nooo, boo hoo, right? Well, I would usually agree and just suck it up and just read the titles, but I feel that the "SytheFlat" theme could benefit greatly by simply adding the same thread category icons as seen in the default "SytheMordern" Theme.

This suggestion would be a super easy change, but what do you all think? I think this is a pretty simple suggestion because...

1. It will make SytheFlat match SytheModern more closely
2. Make it easier to find section by looking for the icon for people like me who don't like the blue theme
3. Is an easy addition, as we already have all the icons, and from what I know, changing those icons take about 10 minutes.

Thoughts?


PS: I think "SytheFlat" Should be renamed to "SytheDark" and "SytheModern" renamed to "SytheDefault". Sythe's default theme actually doesn't look modern at all, especially when comparing it to the current "SytheFlat" which looks 10x more modern ( with the dark colors, how the minis are placed, even the basic UI ).

I think if sythe used the SytheFlat UI be default, with the icons, people would be more likely to join the site. IMO, it just looks more clean and modern. Why not make improvements or just remove it?

its Xenforo though. Something like this would be pretty simple to change... maybe like 15 minutes? Excuse me if I am wrong.
I do understand where you are coming from though.

I have been using it and like it a lot, however some threads look a little off on the Flat UI, so yeah I see how there are some weird bugs. I have been using it for a while, and once you get use to it, it's easier to look at.


Some examples of why I like Sythe Flat more..

Example 1.

I love how Sythe Flat ( or "Dark", as I like to call it ), has the Staff online, and members list on the top right panel. It is just so much better than having to scroll all the way down to see members and staff online.

Example 2.

Above the "Staff online" and "Members online" Panel, there is a box that displays your basic user info ( Profile picture, Likes, Post, etc ). This may seem like just a simple UI feature that is just cool to look at, however, you can actually just click the name ("Eazy E" for example), and go directly to your profile. It might not sound like much, but I hate having to click my name at the top on the default Sythe Theme, then use the drop down menu to select my profile. In fact, on the default sythe theme, if you try to double click your profile name ( in my case, "Eazy E" ), you actually don't get transported to your "Profile" ( Where you can post ), but rather the "account" page ( www.sythe.org/account), which again, kinda just forces you to use that drop down menu.

On Sythe Flat, I can simply click my profile name from any page and get to my profile page. Much easier / Cleaner UI




Example 3.

On Sythe Flat, on the same right panel as the "members online", there is a new feature which shows..

- New profile post (nice feature to maybe help pump the use of profile post)
- Newest member ( good to help the community welcome new members)
- Forum Stats ( kinda useless, buut is a neat feature ig. )





One downside to Sythe Flat is how the Miniranks are presented, but that is something that can change. Also, Sythe Flat would look nice if it used the real Sythe Logo, so that would be nice to change, and is a super easy edit at that.

Anyway, my suggestion isn't to change the theme and put work on TC, but I do think that it would be nice to at least add the icons to the Sythe Flat to match the other theme. I think the reason most people don't use Sythe Flat is because they don't know it is there, or because they don't feel like switching. Maybe if the theme picker was located on a button ( maybe in the user drop-down menu? ) , more people would try it, and maybe more people would enjoy a dark theme in the very Blue world that is Sythe.org.


It is interesting that Sythe Flat has the name Sythe Flat, when it is simply obviously much more modern than SytheModern theme ( aka the default theme ).

 

Support. Shouldn't take long to implement and give users options on which format they want !!

 

@Sythe is there a reason this couldn't be done? I'd be willing to resize section icons if need be.

I really like the look and the features of Sythe Flat but not having the section icons makes it a little too plain and undesirable.

 

We will be making some major updates to the forum in the future, so any development for the forum in its current state is put on hold.

Themes may or may not change as a result of these updates as well.

Denied for now, but I've added this to a list of future updates to consider.
