[DENIED] Suggestion for CDT / New kind of competition / New funrank

Okey i was thinking about this suggestion for past 2 days . Skiller of the month / Quester of the month ...Etc . How this competition will work : This competition will be announced like usual. people that want to take part in it will sign up. CDT will make list of signed up members , signed up members will be given lets say 12 hours (or more), If comeptition is about Quester of the month winner will be person that gets most quest points in time given wich will be 12 hours or more idk... Accounts must be brand new so people cant cheat. About skiller of the month . So one skill that requires no gold to level up (agility, thieving, fishing , wc etc...) will be chosen by community poll and whoever gets most levels in that timespan gets to win funrank and maybe tittle for month. Let me know what you think guys me personally think that this competition will be alot of fun and will keep us busy once a month.

how would it be judged exactly?

an alternative for questing would be doing a speedrun contest where everyone had to video and time a certain quest start to finish and the fastest time won. idk they both would require a lot of effort either way imo

 

Users will have to provide played time after they are finished alongside quest points that they aquired in time given . If they past the time that was set they will be disquilified . there will be discord channel specially made to alert partipicants when time is over.

 

it is really easy to monitor wheter they cheated or not by simply providing screens of played time and account creation date . and also using osbuddy or runelite client whole time. Whoever wins will have to provide screens and stuff to prove that he didnt cheat so yea its not that hard..

 

thats why i said " Only skills that doesnt need gold " such as agiliy thieving and so on... skill for the current month will be chosen by community it might even be 3 skill that doesnt need gold to level up and whoever gets most skill points from this 3 will win competition. also about photoshoping and cheating about wining as i said ... there is only one winner people will say their times lets say someone claims that he was fastest only he will be responsible to provide any proof that is needed like : Video of him logged in his account showing playing time and account creation date... its not that hard dude...

 

I appreciate this suggestion a lot, like the sythe book club it offers a place for people to openly communicate and participate and have fun in the community, it would be really cool to have a funrank based on a persons ability to compete in a game, not necessarily only runescape, but thats all that I saw you suggested here. We definitely plan to implement this once the RSPS comes out. It will make it so everyone can skill together and call eachother "Qemo" (or another expletive) ingame. I think the RSPS will make this a lot more fun than if we do it in osrs. But either way I suggested something like this for CDT events this summer, and I support this suggestion

 

It would be very difficult to stop people from paying other people to do quests or skills for them in order to win an exclusive minirank or funrank. We have several things planned that we intend to release in the future, we're making sure everything is perfect first and testing everything to avoid any problems. To give you guys a little sneak peak we have a tournament with a round robin format and set match times everyday. This is to combat having to plan your matches with people and allowing us to get feedback and see which works better. Great suggestion.

 

No support...

1. I can have an account with 76 theiveing only and make a new account for the contest. At the end of the contest I change the name on the 76 account to the name that was given to the fresh account. No possible way to tell of it is legit or not unless there is a video start to finish, and I don’t think any CDT member will sit through hours of footage

2. Someone can use an auto clicker

3. Someone can buy or make a script that will do certain task for them, and again, unless you are watching the 12 ( or more) hour video I don’t see how CDT or mods will be able to keep track

4. It would have to be F2P since you can’t expect everyone to buy a bond or get membership, which totally limits what is possible in such a short time frame.

5. Being able to properly get the exact amount of XP for each account at a specific amount of time would be very hard to near impossible. 2 people could have the same highest level, but one person played for a few minutes after the contest was “finished”. The CDT members would have to somehow have all the players account and real time stats loaded and ready to copy down at the exact time the contest is over.... basically it’s too easy to cheat the time limit.


Love the suggestion, I really do, and I have thought of this ( as well as thought about having a PK tourney in clan wars ), but I think that making a runescape contest with a community filled with scammers, hackers, botters, and account sellers, it would be super difficult to make sure no one cheats.

I think this is a good idea and nice suggestion, I just don’t see it working. Practically.

There are too many factors in this that could potentially sabotage the legitimacy of the results; most of which are already listed in the previous posts on this thread.

At the current stage of this proposition, I will not support the suggestion. However, if the CDT would like to come up with a plan on how they would combat cheating/outsourcing etc, perhaps we'd be able to formulate a more realistic suggestion based on the amount of work needed to validate legitimacy of entries.

I do not see a new Funrank being an option, as this would most likely fall under "Competition winner" Funrank.

Assuming:
1st place skiller - 3 points
2nd place skiller - 2 points
3rd place skiller - 1 point

Skiller with the most points at the end of the year receives the Funrank.

I will keep this thread open for further discussion - inviting everybody to express their opinions/possible ideas.
