[Denied] Create a RAS Success or Refund section

Everybody on sythe relies on the vouch system but Sythe does not vouch itself. Newer people need to more easily be able to see some of the successful scam reports that resulted in a refund to the person who got scammed.

There should be an additional archive section called something like "RAS Refunds" where Sythe can basically show off the hard work of its staff not only ruling on scam reports but actually getting people refunds. Instead of moving these scam reports to the current archive move them to a different one so people can review all the times Sythe got people their money back.

 

Why is this necessary and what is the value in doing so?

Are you implying that scam victims won’t report the scammer because they can’t “view success stories?”


Seems like a waste of time to me.

 

Nothing about getting scammed, waiting for a refund from the scammer, and then the scammer getting unbanned sounds like a success to me. The trade(s) were unsuccessful and caused headaches for everyone involved, including staff. Instead of showcasing how many times people have been scammed with repayment, we should instead hope people are smart enough to avoid senseless scams by adopting safe trading practices.

 

I agree. I think a prompt explaining the nature of online markets before allowing everyone to enter the market is a better idea than relying on RASC to do that.

 

Its not particularly necesary I just found it strange that there was no section to show off Sythes major successes. Mostly this is coming from the $4500 antiscam but I cant imagine it would hurt to show off some of the successful returns Sythe has helped with scam victims to encourage more people to come forward if they have issues with a purchase. The purpose would be to help new people feel like they arent wasting their time gathering screenshots and .gifs and filling out a long form explaining everything just to have it denied.

 

I don’t see any evidence to support your claim that new users who have issues with purchases don’t submit scam reports. Combined with that notion, as mentioned by @Kanye, it would warrant a somewhat significant amount of additional effort. It just doesn’t make sense, IMO.

If a scam victim submits a valid report and spends the time to “fill out a long form” (which really isn’t very long at all), then why would their thread get denied? I’m not sure I understand this either.

 

I have no justification. I just remember making my first report and feeling very intimidated and not understanding everything that was going on. Going off that I guess.

 

I guess put yourself in the shoes of somebody who has no reputation and just created their account today to report a scam against somebody with a $500 donor rank. Its pretty demotivating thinking that you are shouting into the void. If there were a section showing off situations where Sythe ruled in favor of some no name random person then it would help some people take the time and effort to post their situation. Or maybe situations where Sythe participated in a $4500 antiscam refund like we had recently. I feel like that would be a good one to have shown off to users a bit more. Its just weird that Sythe doesnt really pat itself on the back more and show off its major victories against scammers to attract more users.

 

Honestly I don't think it is necessary. If I am a newcomer on a marketplace website, I am looking for what I want to buy/sell. I am not really worried about others reports etc. If I were to browse Sythe today as a noobie, I'd be here for strictly business.

Also I don't think anyone with sufficient proof of the scam would be intimidated to put in a report against any member.

 

If you just wanted to be on the marketplace I dont think this would make a difference. I could be wrong its probably just a useless idea but what harm is there in it I guess? All the mods would do is filter scam reports into the new archive so that they arent jumbled together with all the other ones. You could alternatively just split up the RAS archive into RAS SUCCESS and RAS FAILURE archive to split up which people got refuinded and which people didnt based off their report. Its just needlessly mixed together.
