Inhaler- Phsicological or Physical?

In case you dont know what an inhaler is it is a device used for "delivering medication into the body via the lungs."

What I want to know is if an inhaler actually helps with breathing or is it
more of a device used as a scapegoat to relieve somebody's breathing problems.

 

It's more than just the placebo effect. Before inhalers were pioneered on the market, they were tested on humans, with control groups using placebos (most medicines are), and the experimental group showed marked improvements.

I'm sure there is some form of psychological effect, but I doubt it's responsible for most of the effect.

Well, every medicine has a psychological effect, if a person takes a medicine, they think they will get better. The effect though, is not a purely psychological one. It is a physical one because it has been proven to help. So all medicines have this psychological effect, but inhalers do have medical advantages to them.

 

i had asthma, when i was younger, apparently all that albuterol shit does help, cus i dont have it anymore.

 

I never heard much about them except elvis presley used one to inhale drugs while on the pot then died =(

 

I have an inhalor, and I belive the effects of it are lagley due to phsicological effects. People take them think they will get better, and they do. Just the "rush" for lack of a better word you g et when you inhale it makes you taste the medician and you think sub consciously, wow this tastes so bad, it will make me better.

Yeah, you're epically wrong. You can't grow out of asthma. You just have a higher endurance, which means your lungs can expand and contract more, and your airways are stronger, and therefore you rarely have attacks. But be careful because you REALLY can't lose asthma.

As for the inhaler being purely "PSYCHOLOGICAL", that's completely wrong. I've died three times from asthma attacks when I was just a wee baby. The first time, I had been declared legally dead, and they were just pushing albuterol into my lungs, and trying to rececitate me. It worked.

The inhaler saved my life more times than I can count, and the medicine does work!

If you're unconcious and your brain isn't aware, and your mouth forces it down your throat (two puffs, then artificial ventilation), and you come back breathing, you pretty much know it works.

 

Not everyone gets the plecebo effect while taking drugs, i know i dont. its only when people truely convince themselfs that there actually making a big difference. its like getting drunk off non alcoholic grape juice, just because you thought youv drunk heaps doesnt mean you would feel like you have, id be just like, wow im handling this well lol.

 

i think it is physical
