Just curious to know what your experiences were. Or.. if you haven't done so, do you ever see yourself doing so?

Did you learn the language? Did you have any regrets? Was there anything about home that you missed? What were your reasons for moving? Did anything eye opening happen?

I've recently moved from New Zealand to the Netherlands after graduating from university. I've been here for about 5 months now and have enjoyed every second of it. I'll most likely move back to NZ but that won't be for a while (hopefully).

Happy to answer any questions about the trip so far.

Hey, am kinda interested as Netherlands was on my country list, however destiny took me to UAE instead... i stayed in UAE around 4 years and now I returned to my country. There was a huge difference between my country and UAE...

Dubai in specific, is the one of the best cities in the worlds... Everything was amazing from work to nightlife, girls and my house itself...

To be honest, even though Dubai was incredibly amazing and i learned allot while living there, I love my country and I feel its the place I want to stay...if only we were half advanced as Dubai :S

So how is Netherlands? I heard that the economy is bad and things are not like b4.. I know you will feel happy with the people around you since everyone is so friendly and welcoming.. how are the banks there?

Am really interested in checking the opportunity working in some other country.

hey rsprod! been a while bro!

frick that's cool as that you're in the netherlands. what an experience?! before i ask questions, i will answer yours.

i left new zealand for 2 years as a missionary. went to the pacific islands. spent time on 3 different local islands. i learned the language while i was there -- it took me about 4-5 months of some decent forced immersion. initially, i missed home a lot. basically just missed the familiarity of my old life and the culture that i grew accustomed to in my old life. however, after 6 months the homesickness quickly wore off and i loved being in a new part of the world and experiencing a lot of different stuff that i was not normally used to! loved it. caught the travel bug now. i am now applying to study abroad next year in singapore!

so, congrats on graduating university. question time from me. what did you graduate in? how did you choose the netherlands? what are your plans for being there? takes a bit of courage to do what you're doing!

That's cool to hear man. UAE is certainly on my wish list, it'll probably be for a short trip as I can't imagine myself staying there long term. Who knows though...

The Netherlands has been fantastic so far, long may it continue. Economy certainly isn't in its glory days however it is in a much better position than a few years ago from what I'm told.

The banks are good; I've only ever been to the ING to set up an account and it was incredibly easy. It can be a little bit annoying having documents sent in Dutch / the banking app in Dutch however you eventually learn what everything does, no major!

Hey man! Long time no talk.

I'll say the same... frick that's cool! Was the trip a success? Where in particular did you go? My dad spent a lot of time as a kid growing up on Mangaia and I've been to a few of the islands, certainly a magical place. Where abouts are you at the moment, still in the PIs?

Graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, double majored in International Business & Marketing. I'm certainly fortunate that I've been able to land a job overseas straight away after finishing. I chose the Netherlands because I'm half Dutch (Mum is full Dutch). It felt like something that had to be done before I could move on with life back home. I'm ideally looking to regain my Dutch citizenship, something which can be done should I manage to stay here for longer than a year. So for the time being, that's what I'm working towards.

Good to hear from you bro.
