Defense casting with ancients?

I remember when I was making my old range tanker pure I leveled magic the slow way by just using fire strike. Which was like I said a slow method but on the other hand it was very cost efficent. Anyways, when I was leveling I did defense casting along with it. By the time I was around maybe 65 mage I was at around 50-60 defense. The whole time I leveled using fire strike I had defense casting enabled. Anywho, my new pure is also a range tanker at a combat level of 59 right now. He has 97 mage atm... Would I be able to Ice barrage in defensive cast? Because im at 2 defense right now and I'd figure that would be the fastest method for leveling defense. Because if I were just ice barrage the enemys portal in CW through defense casting at lvl 2 defense hitting all these high numbers, I would level defense in no time, correct? Because im trying to stay at 1 attack and strength. Beyond that, I can use tickets on defense as well. Is this a good method?

 

I think it is a good method to level defense because there is a formula associated with Mage and Defensive casting for how much xp you would gain for each hit.

 

Honestly it's very good. I never would have thought about that I think i'm going to start a low level f2p range tank now Seems pretty pro! Would you do me a favor and post a proggy log for me? i want to follow you'r progress on this account

 

I wouldn't do that, just do def exp quests..
And I would just do ALL of them, there could always come a future quest where u need that quest which gives def exp.
