    Short Skirts and Sexual Assault

I was browsing through some old news stories today and came across this:
    http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK...For_Rape,_According_To_Wake_Up_To_Rape_Survey
This article really surprised me, and the figures produced were even more startling. Then I read a few other articles and found that judges can be more lenient toward men facing rape charges, based upon the outfit the woman was wearing at the time.

So my question is, do you believe that in a sexual assault on a woman, the woman herself isn't totally blameless?

The women does play a role in the rape not her fault but she should share the blame depending on what she wears.

    Wearing stuff such as

^ this will likely to attract and provoke rapist.

^ is asking to be notice and will again attract eyes of the wrong people

See, personally I find that to be a shocking revelation, I never thought that, nor did I think that women themselves think that rape could be their own fault. It's sad that, that is the outlook women have. I believe that in no way, no matter what they wear or do, is it their fault.

What your not understanding is if you wear revealing clothes showing a lot of cleavage ect.. your gonna attract those guys that simply have no self control. You can be sexy without showing a lot of skin or wearing half clothes. It's slightly your fault for wearing that kind of stuff knowing their are retards prowling outside

Women wearing that short of clothing, I thought, wanted random guys to fuck them. Hints why I call that type of dressing "skimp whores." I would definitely say the woman's dressing can be addressed as her fault as well as the rapists.

No I understand, I see what you're saying, it was just a revelation to me that women themselves think that. And how they also believe that going back to the attackers house and getting raped is also your fault, almost as if sex is expected, which in a way, I suppose is inherent.

Yeah I suppose it could be the catalyst for the act, in that it draws attention. But they aren't asking to be raped, maybe that's what they think is attractive to men.

It's attractive indeed but they have to also be aware of the dangers. As for going to the rapist house that is ridiculous.

Women have the right to dress however they like (as long as there is no nudity)
So no matter how slutty she dresses she shouldn't be denied the justice that a girl in say a baggy sweater and sweat pants would receive.
Its like saying its ok to steal something if it is easier to conceal in your pocket...

Simply with that attitude enjoy your rape for wanting to dress slutty. No one can make you dress appropriate and no one can track all rapist.

I think many times they wear those types of clothes is not really to attract rapists, but they feel that it's one 'good' way to attract regular guys to talk to them. (talking mainly about clothes like really short shorts/skirts, or revealing tops)

Like Maleficent said, girls can look attractive without revealing clothing.

But if women believe that clothing is linked to rape, why continue doing it? Personally from what I see in a club, when a woman is very provocatively dressed, it isn't good guys they attract, from what I see, they look like sleaze in a shirt.

you have to think about how people think. Many walk around with the mind set of what are the odds of that happening to me? some think it can't happen to them.

I met a girl before that said to me i live in new york so try to understand the conversation.

girl: i wish a nigga would try to rape me id fuck his bitch ass up.
me: you honestly think you can overpower a grown man?
girl:no but id fuck him up still
me: your drunk because for a man to knock you down it wouldn't take much effort or to gain control.
girl: i can yell kick and scream
me: yeah same as all the other people that was raped right?

From the conversation you can see some women think it's not possible to get raped or they can simply defend themselves.

I hold the exact same viewpoint to be honest Finn, I do believe however that although it isn't their fault, provocative dress will inevitably attract undesirables, which is a horrible thought, even for me as a male.

So you say if a female shows her ass and her breast off it's not her fault for being sexually assaulted when she knows it can happen?

This is basically saying your going to allow 100 men in a womens nude house and not expect at least 1 of them to try to have sexually contact with a female

 I'm all for women being equal to male, but I'm sorry, women would be unable to overpower a man, unless they were athletes of some sort, but I don't think they'd be a target. I can't believe a girl had that conversation with you either! What world does she live in :S?

I'm not sexist but women say the dumbest stuff ever. Many of the females around these parts actually compete vs males in relationships and some go as far as physically trying to fight a guy head on and think they can win.

Wearing certain stuff attracts the wrong kind of people they are aware of these threats and still test the water and get burned.

Your kind of asking for it, if you were worried about it, you wouldnt show your body like that.

But you're a man, the likelihood of you becoming a victim of rape is much lower.
