Death Test

A new report from Finnish and Estonian researchers shows there are chemicals in your blood that could indicate when your impending death will be.

‘Death Test’ aims to predict time of death (Newsy)
The study was released in the PLOS Medicine journal and says deadly conditions, like cancer and other diseases, may share signs that could be detected in seemingly healthy people. These purported “biomarkers” could give doctors an early warning about such conditions and take steps to thwart the ever approaching Grim Reaper.

The four biomarkers, or the “four horseman of your personal apocalypse” as the LA Times was so fond of saying, are the alpha-1-acid glycoprotein, albumin, very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) particle size, and citrate.

In the study, the researchers made an index of these four markers and found they stood out among those who died and less so among the people who survived after the follow-up survey.

So far, the “death test” isn’t ready, but it does provide hope for the development of early detection methods.

Would any of you be willing to take such a test and know when your death could be? I think I'd rather live in the unknown. All in all, thinking about death itself is deep enough for me.

Even if you get an estimation, very little people die from purely natural causes that aren't somewhat their own doing. Poisoning your body with substances would change the results dramatically or being run over by a car, for example. On that basis, I wouldn't mind. Because it's not really accurate at all. Research like this needs to stop being funded, it's ludicrous. We should aim to know all we can about more important, relevant and useful things before we start messing about with playing God and predicting the future.
