How it went down:

Pretty straightforward, I made a post buying a maxed Runescape 3 account here on Sythe. He messaged me directly on Sythe and then added me on Discord. We spoke for a bit about the account and some other random stuff so I could get a better read on him (scammer spidey sense sort of thing). I made sure his login name was not on the list of scammed/recovered accounts. He gave me his login info for me to check out the account. Once everything was kosher, I traded his alt 240m shards (proof above). I went to login this morning and was not able to. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I did a password recovery and the reset link never hit my inbox. That's when I saw that another password reset link was in my inbox from the day before (this was not me). Scammer radio silent since.

PLEASE get this scammer's account username added to the Scammed/Recovered list ASAP so he doesn't screw anyone else out of $800 or more.

Additional Information:

Since his account was very high leveled, and I took an updated photo both picture while I had the account, it wasn't hard for me to track it down on the highscores even after he changed the IGN:

If he wants to make it right he can trade me back the 240m Spirit Shards

Is it not proof enough that his initial discord message to me was him giving me his Sythe username? How can we reliably link a Sythe User to His/Her discord when there is zero Discord verification process when creating a Sythe account, nor is there a requirement to fill in your Discord unique ID on your Sythe profile?

Received this from him earlier today. As long as his latest account is DNT'd, this can probably be closed. He's not going to refund anything, nor will be probably use that Sythe account again. Sounds like he's with a group of scumbags who do these phishing scams regularly, trying to afford their rent. I'm sure they're using proxies and just creating new Sythe accounts regularly. Nothing can really be done to ban them from Sythe. Lessons learned.
