Cutting your loses.

With the recent events regarding Andrew Gower's new venture with 'Fen Research' Runescape TM is now owned 85% by investors. (In short) refer to this thread for full details, and a link to the article; http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1210178

I'm just concerned as to whether or not you guys, and the big GP sellers should cut your loses. Ventures into the Runescape market could now be very dangerous as the game's going completely down hill. The consequences toward maintaining your reputation and business could be extremely harsh, investors don't run things with passion, and determination to create a great game, as they're money hungry and are, at this time rinsing the game for what It's worth. Future projections would be that they couldn't care less, and they will have no remorse dropping the game as a title and moving on after It's rinsed. 100's of thousands of Runescape players will be disheartened and shocked, businesses will be broken, general people of this community will be out of pocket due to the carelessness of the owners of this game. It's astounding to think all of this can come from a simple java based platform game.

TL;DR: Are you going to be cutting your possible loses?

 

What do you mean by ventures? who and how are they going
to fuck this game up? I dont understand.

 

How, being the key word there, they've already fucked it up.


Ventures; A business enterprise involving some risk in expectation of gain.

 

The idea that many investors are heartless is true in some cases, but their heartlessness and desire for money won't run the game down, not just yet. Investors aren't stupid, they're efficient, they know this game still has years of service and will milk it. Runescape players always fight back as evidenced by the PK riots and these investors know that. They are experts and WILL end the game, but not in the foreseeable future (for RSGP sellers etc, as many don't think in the long term). Their greed will extend the life of this game and drive the pursuit of quality.

Lil Wayne describes this perfectly: The money is the motive, fuck with the money and it gets ugly as coyote.

 

i believe that Runescape will eventually have its own cards such as MSP and these cards will be used to purchase goods. I.E. gold and rares. You can see this happening already with the katana upgrade.

 

I can see the ACTUAL player base vanishing, and it just being a game full of bots, not being a game anymore but a money spiel, an endless argument between real players and botters.
