Custom PC build help

Im looking to build a PC here in the next month or two, it’ll be my first custom build and I want some advice on how to go about it.

I plan on building a pretty basic console killer to run some run of the mill games: RS, CSGO, Rust, PUBG, overwatch, etc. Nothing super crazy.

Not too worried about graphics, I can compromise that for decent performance.

Looking to spend under $400 hopefully including monitor, excluding mouse/keyboard.

I’m aware of sites like PCPartsPicker and newegg to look for deals and builds but is there things to look for compatibility wise and parts that may become ‘obsolete’ rather fast?

 

honestly, i dont see you finding a PC AND monitor under $400 that will run pubg above 50 FPS, Rust will probably be close or lower. You can probably find a build on youtube, but again, you will have to spend around $100 on a monitor anyway, so your build is down to $300.. you cant run Pubg with a $300 PC tbh


Just to give you some info I have a

i7 6700k
907m
1TB HHD 250gb SSD
16gb RAM


I run pubg on low settings at 60-75 frames. You can't even get a i7 6700k for $300, much less a mother board, graphics card, case, power supply, ram, etc. If you want to go budget, get a dell PC off of ebay, and put a gtx 1030 inside of it, but one that runs using its power supply. There is a youtube video of the build and it takes 3 minutes to install the card.

 

You would have to invest way more, nowadays processors itself cost more than that.

 

I feel you, might buy case, mobo, ram, ps, monitor etc for 3-400 then get a decent processor and gfx card the next month

Yep, $400 as a budget is a tad too cheap .

 

i3 7100 and 1050/ti will be the minimum if you want to run those games at low-medium settings at 60+ fps.
