    Paypal: Chargeback problems

I sold GP to GuitarGaming and he payed me via Paypal. He payed me $154. A couple days after the transaction was complete, I found out that he had charged-back the payment he sent me. Saying 'it was an Unauthorized Claim'. Basically, he's saying that his paypal account was hacked by someone and he, the "real" owner of the account, didn't buy this virtual item.

Whether the person who charge-backed the money he sent me is telling the truth or not, why is it that the seller has to refund him? Does Paypal not realise that if I refund him the money I recieved, then i'm losing money?

When you are charge-backed, why does Paypal want you to refund the buyer's money? I think, if you can prove you made a successful transaction, then Paypal should cover the buyer's refund.

    Agree?

you refunded him by sending another payment (other id) or did you canceled the payment he made to you?

When you've done the first thing there's a slightly change you'll get your money back. I suggest calling them and explain by phone. However paypal has a major protecting for their buyers. At least you could try.

I saw some thread about a successfully appeal:

Did you really just say that? Being a business requires being professional.

The buyer and seller are Paypal's customer. If the seller didn't do anything wrong, then he/she shouldn't be penalized. They screw the selling party just because the buying party got frauded?

Also there is literally no chance of you getting your money back as trading virtual goods is not allowed on paypal. Especially thro gifts as this by-pass's their fee's.

Tough break man, as Kmjt suggested try an sell via Player Auctions, that way if they charged back its PA's problem not yours.

Being an 'untrusted member' doesn't have anything do with Paypal. He could've been the most trusted member on sythe and it wouldn't make a difference to Paypal. You dumbo?

Yes, that is the law, card holders are not responsible for any unauthorized charges made to their credit cards.

Trading with a trusted member does make a difference, in the sense that they won't try to chargeback any payments of a successful trade.

    And the sellers are?

I understand what you're saying, but that's not the point of this thread. The point of this thread was to critique Paypal's customs. ;)
