Create A Sticky For Gold Traders(Blacklist) in Marketplace Discussion or RAS

Example:
Need a Ip/email check ran on a guy who disputed 9 payments

There used to be a paypal blacklist, now however I'd like one made for IP's/Emails, Why u might ask?

90% of us gold traders can blacklist/block emails/ip's from ever visiting the site, or ordering.

My personal backend wont even let blacklisted IP's into the checkout page, nor will it let blacklisted emails onto it.

I can also block users via zopim by their IP so their banned from the site, livechat & ordering system, this makes an extremely effective barrier to preventing fraud.

However to create this barrier, I need Ip's & emails, I don't know how many people I've requested checks on, but anytime another seller posts a check I automatically go to the report and blacklist them immediately, I can also block entire ranges of IP's from companys who sell vps's/vpn's I know are commonly used vpn's/vps's to scam on.

I think having a overall list in either marketplace discussions or RAS would be a giant help, somebody active could be the OP and people could just link gold sellers reports(like mine) when people run checks and the OP can be updated to include the report url or just the ip/email.

This would help prevent so much fraud, I cant imagine a negative to this as its literally doing nothing but preventing fraud.

I want a STICKY for IP's/emails besides the paypal blacklist which doesn't include IP's which is the most needed information.

I'd like a sticky made where people can just drop their IP checks/reports for disputes/chargebacks and the OP can be updated with their information, I've literally made probably 50+ "ip checks" in RAS and other gold traders have to, if we could get some form of database that would be extremely useful.

Also- My checks and others rarely if ever tend to be cached/showed on google, so many people fall victim to these guys because its hard to track them.

I cant tell you how irritating it is to get disputed/chargebacked 9 times then realize another gold seller made a report on a disputer/chargebacker matching mine and I wasent even able to find it through searching, do not say "a google search will show them" its a lie, I've been doing anti fraud a LONG time,the search was NOT saved to google(I searched the email/IP/name, I had to actually comb the actual scammer archives to find the check another gold seller ran) if a mod or someone had made a sticky and the other gold sellers check was recorded, I could of prevented myself ALOT of hassle.

 

If you haven't realized by now, 99% of shops aren't willing to share information nor do they take the time to post info on every little dispute and IP they have had a run in with...


A database is something that a site who buys and sells products would make for themselves and other traders they communicate with, I do not feel it is a forums job to house this information.

It's the forums job to protect the people who trade on it as much as it can, I am happy to post any information I have regarding scum and scammers who commit fraud against me in the hopes of protecting others, perhaps whygrind.com/urself doesn't share that opinion?

Also just because someone CANT or REFUSES to post information doesn't mean we all do, some people actually care enough to do so, "most" is not "all" and thus I believe a sticky is warranted.

How many scams would be prevented by a sticky? Dozens? Hundreds? Thousands?

How many gold traders might be prevented from rage scamming after being charged backed 20 times over because they had a list to check big purchases against?

How many thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of dollars might be protected/saved?

What's the cost of this u ask? A simple thread sticky.

Support, it sucks to get chargebacked by someone when it could've been prevented by people just writing out the information of notorious fraudsters.

 

It is the forum moderators job to ban scammers and rule breakers, in no way is it the job of them or the site owner to post a public database filled with peoples information that can't be 100% verified no matter how much information you have, and now it's for everyone to see on the web........................

If sites wish to communicate this information privately or post a report as the user may be lurking on forums then so be it.

How many posts have you seen from the larger gold shops regarding these kinds of things... They don't want you to know "billy bob" screwed them last week, they want you to take the lick on your own as you're the competition and if you're losing money, that's good for them as it puts you closer to no longer running a website and they now get a larger portion of the market. This would just be a waste of time (and a legal matter) as sites will continue to not post information and collect it themselves privately and continue running their business.

 

Perhaps u misunderstood the suggestion, I am suggesting a sticky which I also refered to as a database, ur confusing the issue, so I removed the database part, my bad.

I want a sticky like the paypal blacklist which was highly approved of.

Not a database.

Also this sticky is for the average trader, I couldn't give a shit what the gold giants do frankly, this is a sticky for the common man/common trader, if the gold giants don't want to help contribute to trading safely, that's their problem, not mine/ours.

Support, why not takes little effort and like above user said can save people from scams.

 

I think the basis for this suggestion is great, but the market seems to be more "Every man for themselves". You aren't sharing your profits with let's say Bogla or R2, so why should they share their strategies to maximize their profits with you? Same goes for any levels of traders, it's a competition. iHQ raised an excellent point, the market IS cutthroat. If your competition goes out of business, the traffic goes to you.

At the end of the day, even if you do just mention it as a "sticky", you're trying to form a database of blacklisted IP's not to allow into your (or anyone who wants to use it) shop. Who is going to police this? Can I throw your email on there for shits and giggles?

Also this would be directly used for sites, something the common trader doesn't have. Knowing someone's IP does nothing for typical PM / Skype trades, this would be useless to the common trader.

An IP would not be useful for those not running a website. Most fraud attempts are Paypal associated and a sticky already exists for that. If you want a list of blocked IP's for fraud, ask other merchants who own/run a website.
