    200k+ Combat Experience Per Hour

    Jack Goff’s Combat Guide

    Requirements

    43 Prayer
    40 Firemaking
    The Branches of Darkmeyer Quest
The requirements for this are as follows:
    - Legends' Quest
    - 108 Quest Points
    - Family Crest
    - Heroes Quest
    - Shield of Arrav
    - Lost City
    - Dragon Slayer
    - Merlin's Crystal
    - Druidic Ritual
    - Shilo Village
    - Jungle Potion
    - Druidic Ritual
    - Underground Pass
    - Biohazard
    - Plague City
    - Waterfall Quest
    - Legacy of Seergaze
    - Darkness of Hallowvale
    - In Aid of the Myreque
    - In Search of the Myreque
    - Nature Spirit
    - Priest in Peril
    - The Restless Ghost

Some of these quests give defence experience!

3075 Defence Experience from Heroes Quest
18650 Defence Experience from Dragon Slayer
2000 Defence Experience from In Aid of the Myreque
600 Defence Experience from In search of the Myreque
2000 Defence Experience from Nature Spirit
This totals up to 26325 experience which means that you will be at least 36 Defence so you are at the very least a Rune Pure.

    Outline
The monsters you will be killing are called Vyrewatch.

Your weapon of choice is the Blisterwood Polearm.

Jab trains controlled, swipe trains strength and fend trains defence.

You cannot train attack with the Blisterwood Polearm, but you can use the Ivandis Flail to train attack however it is considerably less experience per hour.

The Blisterwood Polearm is naturally quite strong against Vyrewatches, but when you have cremated the 500 of their corpses it boosts its effectiveness dramatically, allowing the 200k+ per hour!

Here is a map of where you will be training in Darkmeyer. You can get here by teleporting via Drakan’s Medallion.

Here is the setup I use when training there.

    Method

Your prayer bonus is very important. You need to be able to cast Protect from Melee for 5 minutes consecutively. This tool is very helpful when calculating this. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculator:Prayer/Drain_rate
Here is a look at the link.

As you can see, my drain rate is 5.46 minutes, which is over the necessary 5 minutes to ensure you don’t die. If your drain rate is less than 5 minutes you may need to alter your gear to raise your prayer bonus sufficiently to reach the 5 minutes.

I recommend downloading Swiftkit for doing this. It has a handy timer tool on it that you should set to 4 minutes as the log out timer for Runescape is 5 minutes. I use 4 minutes as I often am busy at the time so need the 1 minute leeway to actually find the time to click over and renew my prayer.

This way every 4 minutes the alarm (by default a bell) will sound letting you know that you need to look back and renew your prayer. Here is a link to Swiftkit.

    http://swiftkit.net/

What you need to do is teleport to Darkmeyer via Drakan’s Medallion and from there walk west. There is a convenient bank should you need to get anything. Also, at the T intersection there is your training ground. Simply sit there, turn on protect from melee and AFK for 4 minutes. Once the 4 minutes is up, go and renew your prayer at the altar that is a short distance north west from your location. Once renewed go back and reset your 4 minute timer.

NEVER TURN OFF PROTECT FROM MELEE – The Vyrewatches can be quite deadly, especially if you have low defense.

For your first 500 kills however, you should pick up their bodies and bank them. I recommend using super/extreme attack and strength potions to speed up this part as it requires your attention a bit more.

    Cremating Vyre Corpses

The point of this is that for every 50 Vyrewatches you burn it increases the Blisterwood Polearm’s attack bonuses and its hidden effectiveness against the Vyrewatches.

I strongly recommend a BoB for this.

For this, you need a minimum of Teak Pyre Logs, which require 40 Firemaking to burn.

You cannot put the corpses into the BoB, but you can put the pyre logs into it! You should calculate how much you can fit in your inventory and your BoB together. Half of this should be Pyre logs and the other half Vyrewatch corpses. For me, I am using a Tort so I have 23 Pyre Logs (18 in BoB and 5 in inventory) and 23 Vyrewatch corpses in inventory.

This is the gear I am using. It requires a bit of running so I am using weight reducing gear.

Make sure to have a Tinderbox on your toolbelt!

(In case you are wondering the ring is a TokKul-Zo, from The Elder Kiln quest)

This is the route I am using; it is the fastest way to get there and to bank.

    Use Fairy ring code CKS

You will now be in a star shaped room. There are lots of Recess’ on the walls. There are funeral pyres around the room, but you will want to be in the middle. Here you can do two pyres at once.

For each one you burn with Teak Pyre logs you get 198 experience in both Prayer and Firemaking. You cannot persay burn two Vyrewatches at the same time, but by doing what I am doing in the picture by placing the log on the pyre, placing the Vyrewatch corpse on the funeral pyre, light it then start preparing the other funeral pyre you are standing beside you maximise how many you can burn per hour.

Another important thing to note is that when you burn a Vyrewatch a key appears on the pedestal at the end of the funeral pyre. These keys open the wooden recess’ around the room.

Here is where the Swiftkit timer feature comes in handy again.

The keys disappear after standing there for a bit more than a minute, if you set the countdown timer for 40 seconds; you can burn about half the inventory of Vyrewatches then claim your keys without them disappearing.

Once finished, it is time to collect your spoils. The rewards you can obtain from the Recess’ include Charms, Rune platebodies and platelegs, God book pages, herbs, and other things from Treasure Trails. When I burned my 500 Vyrewatches I got a Guthix Page, a Zamorak Page and several rune platebodies and platelegs. In the end I had 7m of rewards which covered the cost of buying Pyre Teak Logs.

It takes around 6 minutes per burning a load of Vyrewatches using a Tort if you don’t stuff around, so you can burn them all in a bit over 2 hours if you concentrate.

There is a lectern at the south end of the star shaped room where you can check how many Vyrewatches you have cremated.

    Miscellaneous

To retrieve a Blisterwood Polearm teleport to Darkmeyer via Drakan’s Medallion with a hatchet and a knife, then walk east and cut the Blisterwood tree. Combine that with 2 Silver Sickles to make it.

To recharge the Drakan’s Medallion (make sure you have 1 charge left to get there easily!) use the Drakan’s Medallion teleport to Burgh de Rott.

In the cave use Drakan’s Medallion on the blood fountain.

Thanks Champion. Originally I was gonna sell this but it turns out other people knew so I decided to release it as a free guide because I'm so nice.

This is an impressively-detailed guide. However, I would suggest using the training spot about one map distance south, in front of the big building in the center. I've found it's got a better spawn location for the Vyres.

Very nice guide mate. I'd heard from a mate these were very good to kill once you burnt the 500 things to make the weapon stronger, I had no idea it was this good. Will definitely be useful in the future.

Yeah, I usually consistently hit 400+ on them, killing them in 4 hits.

Yeah has been for a while

Very interesting, had no idea about this method.

I might actually have to try this out once I accomplish those requirements, haha.

A very nice guide, I don't really play RS anymore but for those who do this is very helpful.
It's well explained and detailed, only the requierments could be a problem.
