    Your opinion on eSports?

With the rise of Gaming, eSports is becoming increasingly more popular, more competitive and more lucrative. This year The International paid out more than $10m for Dota 2, which is a huge milestone in eSports.

What do you guys think of eSports and are you, yourself, involved in eSports? (regularly watching streams/tournaments or even participating)

I think its about time eSports became big, it something i would love to get in to but i can never find a game i really want to invest myself in to.

I have reached a point now though where i watch streamers on websites such as twitch more than normal television!

    Your opinion on eSports?

I mean it can require as much skill as physical sports, so I don't see any reason why electronic sports shouldn't be as popular

    Your opinion on eSports?

I played GameBattles as a kid, COD ladders, Rainbow 6 Vegas Ladders, the odd dabble into a FIFA ladder... But I've not got the time to take up gaming anymore to get to a level that would pay off. I love eSports, and I'd love to quit my job and play LoL, Dota, CS:GO or COD all day and still pick up a wage.

I see nothing wrong with it but I wouldn't want to be that competitive. At least for traditional sports you need to be fit and it requires athleticism but for video games it really just requires loads of practice and fast reflexes. I'm very good at CoD4 but would never think of playing competitively. I play for fun and if I get annoyed I simply get off and do something else.

I don't mind competitive gaming as it is entertainment for some, although I don't believe it should be called "eSports".

Esports are a joke. Pretending ANYTHING related to gaming is any sort of sport is an absolute farce.

Playing games competitively is alright, making it your life and or job is outright silly.

I think its gotten ridiculous at this point.

    Your opinion on eSports?

If people want to slave tens of thousands of hours to be decent at a "game", so be it.

But 1) I don't want it to be called "eSports", because it isn't a sport.
Sitting on the couch/gaming chair for 12 hours a day doesn't compare to training 3 times a day like real "sport" players/athletes. They could have just called it "Competitive Gaming"

    2) They should be paying winners a small grand prize each. but not like the 1M$ Tournament. 4 players getting paid 100-250K$ to the person who spent the most hours slaving a game? seriously?
Not to mention, the youtube spam videos with ads, "apperral" and discount codes/affiliation marketing making, sponsorship the average basement "competitive gamer" make 6 figures a year.

    Your opinion on eSports?

More game time =/= better at the game, most of the people on the most played time ranks are not even on the top 3 leagues.

    Your opinion on eSports?

I was referring between the players in eGaming.
The majority of them all spend the same amount of hours give-or-take, since when they're usually streaming on mlg tv and making money off donations/ads.

    Your opinion on eSports?

I agree with funbox. It shouldn't be called a sport. It needs to be known that it is competitive gaming, not a goddamn sport! I class real athletes that train every day for hours pushing their bodies to win real sporting championships. How does sitting in a chair comfortably playing a game you've wasted 10% of your life learning, and winning unnecessary amounts of cash.

I don't know... I understand the idea behind it all, but with marketing of it all, it just seems like a huge cash grab for the company and players.

    Your opinion on eSports?

It should be given more importance by each country for its development. Yeah, CS:GO conducts 3 majors a year paying out $750k and lots of other tournaments hosted by other agencies.

eSports is the equivalent of a diet coke - they're both pointless and created to make you feel better about your vice.

Gaming is in no way a sport. You can take a competitive approach to gaming, but to categorize it as a sport.. c'mon, such a reach.
