Could be wrong section, but programming on Mac?

Hello, I recently invested in a macbook pro, obviously fell in love with it because it's a great system. I'm not looking to game on it in terms of Scape or WoW; I am more interested in programming *cheers*.

If I have little to no experience with computer programming, what is the best language/ tool used on a mac to start? and where should I go for help/learning tips.

Sorry if this is supposed to be in questions section, but I figured it'd get more hits in the Programming General.

It depends on what kind of programming you want to do. If you're looking to do iOS development you will want to look into xCode. I think that is the main IDE for that, there could be others though.

For any other kind of development (ruby, php, etc) I would suggest Sublime Text 2. I've been using it for my web development and it's simply amazing.

For actually learning how to code, just google various tutorials.
