    Correlation between Insanity and Genius.

Yes I know I used genius as an adjective.

Some of you know, that there were several people on this planet, who had Genius beyond anything, and were just... extremely smart.

    Examples -
    The great Frederik Nietzsche
    Pythagoras, Greek Mathematician, around 575 -500 B.C.
    Lord Byron, English Poet, 1788-1824
    Tycho Brahe, Danish Astronomer, 1546-1601
    Michelangelo, Italian Renaissance Painter, 1475-1564
    Albert Einstein
John Nash- real life person from movie 'a beautiful mind'
[some famous composer whos name i forget, was it Bach?]
I made this thread to get your opinions on this, if you think there is any correlation, how you feel about it, and just put in your thoughts, generally I guess.

Michelangelo never bathed, wore the same clothes all the time, and smelt really bad, but he was a genius, dont judge a book by its cover.

Beethoven, didn't he compose music even though he was deaf?

    Yes he did.

He also managed to break the strings on a piano; they're actually incredibly tough for their size.

    Correlation between Insanity and Genius.

Insanity is a really interesting condition. It can go both ways, but more often than not people who are labeled "Insane" by the society are really just people who were able to see from a different perspective than the collective is accustomed too. This can be a troublesome thing if the person is unable to cope with it, and thus unable to function within the society, however if one is able to focus ones perspective while maintaining a healthy relationship with this world, this is when one can access the true realm of the spirit, this is when one can draw from the very depths of human potential, this is when a genius is born.... yet marked mad by the common man, because he can't see the world through his eyes and his very natural contradicts the values of the society as a whole.

I say this as someone who is absolutely insane. If I told any psychiatrist about the things that occur in my life I would most likely be pronounced mad and shipped off to an asylum but as it stands I'm able to function perfectly fine within the constraints of this society and so they haven't quite found an excuse to put me away... yet. ;)

But really my insanity is merely a symptom of discovering how to live life by my own values instead of blindly accepting the values passed down to me by authorities such as the church, the government, my parents, etc. For me, my "Insanity" is merely a quest to discover the true human potential within each of us, to joyously test the boundaries of the reality I happen to be inhabiting at this moment RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW. Endless potential, infinite potential, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. I believe in humanity and I believe in the true realm of the spirit! I believe in myself, and I believe in you.

And because of this, I love you all...

Pay no mind, pay no mind, this rhyme is all I've got to pass the time, to keep the rhythm, a steady flow, on through eternity my soul will go; to reach the end, a silent wind... blows through me, through my emptiness, into the place where my spirit sits - to move my spirit; an unconscious drift, into mist, into mist, so the journey goes, so the journey flows, words are hollow don't you know - only to be filled with meaning; filled with intent, linguistic alchemy infusing; quite amusing, listen closely, keep on going to catch your spirit, to catch your soul, it's hard to keep up yet it keeps things slow to the point where the music can touch you deep in that sacred place...

    That makes things MOVE.

    All is grace.

You remind me of myself, sort of. I too would be labeled as 'insane' if I told anyone of the kind of stuff that goes through my mind. It's funny, seeing average brained people laugh at people like me when I'm a thousand times smarter then they are..

It's not about being smarter than someone else or being better than someone else or any of that jazz, that's just egotistical bullshit. Bloating your ego. It's really just about learning to access your full potential and using it to aid the collective.

    Correlation between Insanity and Genius.

To start off, both are a relative term, so one man's genius is another man's psychotic lunatic

Think of it this way, both people can possess a talent of sorts, just the way they express that talent can be viewed differently

I'm not saying that everyone who is insane is also a genius, but I am saying that everyone that is truly genius is partially what we would call insane, but that is only because we cannot fully understand the logic and reasoning of this particular individual, or if we can, we may not wish to.

In short, I believe that any true genius is at least a little tiny bit insane.

    Correlation between Insanity and Genius.

A lot of times people I see that are pretty close to genius status talk to themselves a lot, because they are the only ones that understand themselves, and what they have to say.

    So people call them insane.

I'm pretty sure he composed his most famous works when he was deaf....

In anycase, if you want a true genius, look at Mozart
he never once erased a note that he had written

Beethoven and bach, etc all had what looked like chicken scratch on their paper

want to meet a genius, look in the mirror, because if there was no one else in the world to compare yourself to, what else would you be?

    Correlation between Insanity and Genius.

There is no direct correlation. Being insane doesn't necessarily make you a genius, but you can still be a genius and be insane.
That made absolutely no sense. Humans defined ingenuity and therefore if there were no humans, no one could be defined as being a genius. Intelligence is proven in every race, however, in forms of cunning and instinct.
The term genius actually meant genie (as in genie in a bottle, genie is supposed to be the plural form of genius), and since genie were supposedly extremely powerful and wise, the term genius was granted to men that proved themselves intellectually superior.

Lol, just because you are the only person around doesn't make you a genius.

What if you rub yourself with poison ivy?
That would make you an idiot in the eyes of the animals because they don't even do that...

No, a true genius is a person who shows superb quality in a certain skill(s)
Being the only one around doesn't increase or decrease your own intelligence

Basically, genius isn't determined by who's left

Genius is determined by the standards required to be one

    A.K.A. already what I wrote...
