Why is wow so addicting

love to see ur reasons why?

 

Well, I have heard that good MMORPG game designers know that when you reward people in random times, that make them so addicting.
Example; When you know that every day at 10:00, there will be a drop party, you will maybe only come that time to Runescape.
But, if everyday there will be drop party, but not at specific time, that would make you play more and be more addicting.

 

It's the most unique MMORPG I've played so far. Even Aion , RIFT are trying their best to follow WoW. It's just the modern MMORPG and it's addictive.

 

I think because mostly from competition ingame. So many players/things to do

 

Secondly, the reason would be because it looks so much "Real-life-a-like" I mean, there used to be one event:

Everything just builds on itself and you're always striving to get to the next raid or down the next boss, achievements also add to the experience.

Not going to lie, extremely good and alarming in a way. I've stopped playing WoW, besides the occasional month here and there shut I found most if not all of that article true to when I was really "into it".

 

I love raiding. That's the part of it for me.
And it's the ORIGINAL MMORPG of the age. All the others are copies.

 

Personal achievement (you set out things to accomplish and are rewarded for it), the human need to prove you are the best (have the best gear, best pvp rating, most achievement points etc.), constant updates and additions to the game to spark new interest or reignite old, escape from reality.. the list goes on.

 

I think it is because the game has developed so much, and is continuously doing so....there is never really NOTHING to do in the game

 

ALWAYS something to do you know....
I can always strive to have the best guild on the server or the best gear. its always a race to be the best and shit... Plus I just love it !!

Every mmo would be a copy of wow as every mmo is a mmo!
When a game allows you to walk with WASD keys it's automatically a WoW copy, comeon.. I just get mad when everyone claims a game is a WoW copy.
Afterall; WoW is an EQ clone, and when you claim that they also become mad at you!

People just MUST stop claiming that WoW has been the milestone and the beginning of MMO's, it's been a breakthrough; NOT the start of MMO's.
WoW has been great, it's dieing and Blizzard is killing it for themselves.
Move on and do not claim every mmo is a copy of WoW, as it's not.

But seriously, I agree. WoW is simply the most successful MMO based on subscriptions, and it has set the standard for a lot of MMOs developed after it. But yeah, Everquest and probably something else came before it and it is fairly annoying when people just assume every new MMO is a WoW clone before they even try it.

 

It's not that I'm mad about it
It's just that people are starting to see WoW as the "Maker of MMO's" while the game mechanics of MMO's are just the same as WoW's.. Becaauuseee it's a mmo xD
But meh, GuildWars2 ALL THE WAY!

 

I only find it addicting if your ahcully playing with friends or if you play an op class it makes it more fun and you cant stop playing. without actual friends i would find it extremely boring.
