    Buying a new laptop

Looks like a great laptop to me, will play any game you throw at it on the highest settings at 1080p.
Do you plan on gaming hard? If not you can get a much cheaper laptop that will be just as fast, just without the great graphics card in it.
If your main goal is to game, I would recommend a custom built desktop. If you do decide to do that I can build a computer in your price range with online stores, and post it here. Desktops give you much more bang for your buck while gaming.
If not any of that, then yes the laptop is a great deal.

What would you suggest for a fast laptop for Runescape, Minecraft, Video making?

If you're not running graphically intense games, then he's right. A custom desktop with a middle of the road graphics card would be best.

You said you wanted to make videos? From personal experience, laptops don't have the processing power for it. They take to long to render, it makes everything a hassle.

I recommend a high quality processor and a middle of the road GPU in a custom desktop. You could pay $1500 for a desktop + Monitor that will do exactly what you want.

Honestly you don't need to spend any more than $1000 on a custom desktop to do all that, and even then it's overkill. The laptop he picked has more than enough processing power for video rendering, the i7 won't have a problem. I'm surprised the Laptop doesn't have a ssd to boot from for the hefty pricetag, I'm sure you can find another laptop that can do what you want for less money. But if you'd like to custom build a computer you're getting MUCH MORE for your money.

Actually, I own that laptop, and have made videos. My render times were not preferable. Especially if I wanted to game that night too, the entire evening would be dedicated to rendering. I understand he doesn't have to spend $1500, but he could get something very future-proof as well if he were to do so.

I was was actually surprised as well, and to be honest this is way to much on a laptop of this standard.

You already use Newegg, my best advice would be to build your own laptop/computer!

I'm sure this is common knowledge but you save not only a lot of money, and you get exactly what you want down to the casing. Not only this, but it also gives you the chance to learn about how a computer really works, and whats best for you and what you're trying to do. Plus it's really not as time consuming as it may seem, and the time you do spend is well worth the extra money you'll save!

    Good luck!

Hmm that's unfortunate but you know the laptop doesn't OC to 3.3 ghz for nothing. It's really up to him whether he wants to go down the building route, or is really bent on buying a laptop.

Fre5h, what are you looking to do at this point?

Yeah, a lot of this is a foreign language to me... I am thinking about going for a custom desktop but I have no idea how to build a computer and I dont know if I have the time.

A custom desktop will have incredible power, you don't need any more than 2 hours for your first computer build. I can assemble a parts list for you, if given a budget and an idea of what you're wanting to do.

That laptop is FUCKING SICK. I'm not quite sure what your plan is to do with that much, but damn. It will most definitely handle anything you need it to do...

I see that the item is deactived, so it does not show a price.

For what you're doing it will work perfect.

You may also want to check out ibuypower.com. It will take a little longer to get your laptop (it's custom made), but you get exactly what you want. Their prices are extremely reasonable too.
Just be careful not to overdo it.

Many people suggest building a PC, and I agree with them 70%. While it's going to be the best option, it doesn't fit for everyone. Some people like myself would much rather prefer to be able to do whatever they need on their laptop.
Keeping that in mind, the website I provided might be perfect. You can get exactly what you need and nothing more, saving you money where it need not be spent. If you plan on playing some high end games, build around it, if you don't, keep the specs down.

Also, seeing as how you want to edit videos, you have to ask yourself how important that is to you, and what kind of program(s) you use.
If you're just a recreational video editor that makes stuff in Movie Maker, you won't need much.
If you truly enjoy it and use a bigger program like Vegas, you'll need something semi-powerful to handle it seamlessly.
If you're really serious about it and want amazing render times, you're gonna want to beef it up even more. (Here is where you would go as high as your budget allows.)

Also keep in mind that the bigger and more powerful a laptop is, the hotter it's gonna run, and the heavier it's gonna be. In many high end laptops, the fans will get pretty loud when you really make it work.
I personally have a cheap $400 Sony. It can run approx. 3 windows of Minecraft and do web browsing, and that's about it. Anything other than that I use a desktop for, but I'm okay with that, seeing as how I don't do anything like that too often, and when I do I'm so focused I don't mind not being by the TV.
A cheap laptop like this might not work great for you, but it runs silently, stays amazingly cool, has a good battery life, and is very light. (Just stay away from Sony if you take this route.)

If you have any questions for me feel free to shoot me a pm, as I won't likely follow this thread.

Cheers and best of luck to ya!

    Edit:
Saw the post above this one. Alienware!?
Listen, Alienware is now owned by Dell, and Dell is NOT a good brand. I've been working at a place for 5 years now that used to (before the ex head guy got canned) only buy Dells. The old white computers were amazing for their age, but the newer models just suck. Dell has gone down hill BIG TIME. They even got in trouble for knowingly using bad parts in their computers.
At my work we replaced an entire lab of computers a couple of years back, and the results were pretty pathetic. The old computers were white dells, and the new ones were brand new Dells. The new computers actually boot and run slower than the old ones.
If you go down there to print a paper (assuming the computer is off), it will take you about 10 minutes to do it. If it's on, it will take about 7.
We've also had a multitude of computer dead on arrival, and Dell made us troubleshoot the issues and figure out what needed to be replaced.

I realize that these aren't the "premium" "top of the line" Dells, but we're not gonna spend that much when we have to buy so many.
It's still a bad sign for the company, and their higher models are the exact same with a little more umph. And Alienware, while on a different production line, is the same as a powerful dell with an alien on it.

There's no reason to buy something like there when there are so many good alternative out there for cheaper.

Alienware isn't terrible, but its overpriced for the parts inside. They are targeted at 12 year olds who don't know anything about computers except the brand name.

Well, I suggest you to buy a Laptop with a videocard integrated with a processor - its a I5,I7 CPU's from Intel and A6,A8 CPU's from AMD, because WHOLE laptop issues is because overheating of additional videocard, and are mostly UNRECOVERABLE.
Also for now, the A6,A8 CPU's from AMD have a more powerfull videocards instead of Intel.

definitely the best laptop you'll get for the price..

    BUT

These Asus laptops drop in price like a mother fucker... I bought a $1400 one back in the Fall, and it's already priced at like $800 (or less if refurbished) on the site. Just be careful.
