Well, as some of you know I like to build some crazy things. I have been planning a gaming DESK complete with a new PC, PS3, and 360. I will customize a desk to something similar to this:

It will be pretty easy to do. Now, the question is should I do this? I have the money to spend about 3 grand on the build. Should I do it or something else? If you have any ideas please say them. Here is a parts list I came up with. Trying to keep it under 2-2.3k.

Also I was thinking of three of these monitors.

No need for a 1000W power supply unless you plan on adding another 7970. Also, choose a HDD with a faster speed, like 7200rpm

Looks like a really neat build, but as said above I would also go for a 7200 rpm HDD. I'm pretty sure that Ivy Bridge compatible motherboards should also support 2100 ram so I would definately get 16 gigs of that instead of 1600.

Also for the poster above, I think he will also need the Power Supply to power some other stuff like the xbox/ps3.

Overall the build looks great already.

Are you using that power supply to power the game systems? I just thought you were going to use each of the systens individual cords and power bricks for each system.

No, game systems are powered separately. I went with 1000w to leave the room to upgrade to a second 7970 if I want. I will look into bumping the ram to 2100. Bumped to the 7200 HDD, I thought it was 7200 without reading it lol.

Does anyone have any ideas of something to do other than a desk?

Very nice, and very expensive >_<. Have you thought about going for an Nvidia GPU? There's nothing exceptionally wrong with AMD, but I find more games are optimised fro Nvidia today, something out of the 600 series would last you a good while, especially if you went SLI.

I was looking into the OC'd 680, I don't have much experience with them and I have a buddy that worked on this project for AMD so I thought I would try it out =p

You could build it and throw it inside of a freezer or fridge or something, that would actually be cool, and keep it running cool.

Yes, I would take a WD Raptor instead of Seagate HDD. Its really faster.

Needs a 7200RPM drive, IMO smaller SSD(120g for OS, most played games), 7200rpm(1tb/2tb) for other games & then maybe another drive for media(like the seagates you originally picked)

    WD Raptors are shit.

Quality 850w(Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, Silverstone, preferably silver/gold rated) will power your system even with CFX 7970s(they are really good for power consumption).
