Bring RuneCMS back!

Well I don't know what the hell is going on but this forums activity has taken a massive dip over the recent months! I remember back in the day before Sythe and Jansen made this site, RuneCMS used to be so active, if you posted something you'd receive a reply within 5 minutes. Now a days on here, you don't even get a reply for weeks! You still won't get one leaving you no option but to bump your thread.

What the fuck is going on?! What does everyone else think?

 

well considering runescape is dying there is your answer plus people move on from sythe

 

uhh...Runescape reached its apex YEARS ago. Bringing back RuneCMS would not increase activity on this forum...

 

I didn't mean literally bring it back! I meant in terms of activity, buzz and excitement!

 

You're not alone with this thought, most people that come back to Sythe feel the same way. When I joined I was most active in 2010, I had the same feeling of Sythe as you, taking just minutes to get replies on topics. Now it feels so much slower. People have come up with countless ideas to try and revive Sythes activity, but obviously nothings really worked. The staff have tried a Community Development Team, adding in new forums, changing the mix and to some extent allowing particular banned members back to the forums. Nothings really worked.

If you have ideas I reckon people would love to hear them, I personally just don't know what can be done.



As you can see in Google Trends above, Sythes been dipping for years.

 

Recently league of legends brought quite some activity to sythe & it's market. So did PokeMMO but it was removed for some reason.

 

I think the idea is ludicrous. This is 2013 not 2005.

 

We need to expand to other games, as unfortunately runescape's playerbase is decreasing not increasing. Can't you tell they're trying to do everything they can to revive it by bringing out 100000 servers.

 

If only it were that easy. There's no magic recipe to just make a site popular again.

 

Hmm? Time for a change then? If runescape isn't popular anymore then maybe we should be looking at games that are popular? I'm not quite up to date on who's playing what these days because there's so much to choose from. But I'm sure by adding the necessary categories we can add to the forums activity.

But yeh Verts, I agree there definitely isn't no magic recipe!

 

Like I said earlier, it's been tested. League of Legends, PokeMMO, FPS Games, Console Games, Indie Games (MineCraft) have/were all added. Generally they provide an initial injection of activity but they they die.

 

Goodbye Sythe then? Are we slowly deteriorating as a community? Or is this the beginning of the end?!

LoL is increasing with activity everyday. Take a look at the section (market).

Countless threads have been made discussing this issue. However it's a moot point. As Verts said, there is no quick magic fix. Longevity is harder to sustain in it's entirety then people think. The concept of Forums are also in decline, not only Sythe.org.

I've suggested advertising on many a occasion, however big Rich stated that past attempts haven't been fruitful.

 

Pokemon was removed which in my eyes was a big mistake, there was activity there no matter how small compared to other markets.
It's sad to say but unless Jagex fixes Runescape then most RS markets will die. Bringing back 07 brought some life to the forum, but like others have stated we need something more, there should be a massive discussion or threads stickied somewhere for people to post their ideas and staff to decide whether or not to implant them.

 

There's still a community here, which I believe will stand for at least a few more years even if nothing can be done to revive it.

I don't deny it's been one of the more successful subsections added in the past couple of years But I'm talking about the overall activity of the forum which is still a lot lower than a level that Optikal and myself can remember. I hope LoL continues growing though.

To attract more users there needs to be something that other forums don't have! Like before we had Scar etc.. So I was thinking, maybe we can run a community project? New bot or something? Just throwing a few ideas out there, please don't hate!

 

If Sythe were to introduce something new and unique, I would advocate that it should not be RuneScape related in itself. If it is, I doubt it will be that attractive as in all honesty: Runescape isn't that attractive at the moment.

 

Indeed Runescape is shit, no one plays it now. So what needs to be done is another online game really or I dunno man..

 

Well I agree Sythe will and should remain predominantly a gaming orientated community, but that in itself is far from defined. Ambiguity cannot spawn success.

In regards to an actual individual idea, I do not know. I have been largely inactive for a few years now.
