    It's really cheap right now.

    It's backed by major banks.

It's being tested by the Bank of England.

It's designed by and for banks to facilitate interbank transfers.

It's a drop in replacement for SWIFT that takes 8 seconds instead of 3 days and costs the implementing banks almost nothing.

RippleLabs has received $100 million in venture funding so far.

Bank of England (that's the reserve bank of the UK) is experimenting with it. Consider that no other crypto is being tested by a reserve bank: Ripple Selected to Participate in the Bank of England FinTech Accelerator’s Exploration of the Use of Blockchain for Global RTGS | Ripple

I have invested in Ripple and I can say with full confidence that this will go up in the future. (I was paid to say this)

I think funds could be better spent currently investing in coins that have hype around them and once that dies off investing in Ripple if proof of concept is proven with these meetings with the English banks.

Ended up with like 18K of Ripple tbh

For those looking to buy it in the U.S., I used Kraken, but can only trade BTC -> Ripple so need to buy BTC first.

Here's an article today out of bloomberg

Sending Money Overseas to Get Faster Once Banks Pick a Winner

My analysis of this: -Hyperledger not specific enough to the needs of banks and not developed enough. -Visa can already provide inter-bank transfers but they do so at their own 3% profit. This isn't different to the banks letting third party FX companies into the space.

I still think Ripple is ahead in this space by miles and miles. Particularly because they have designed it as a drop in replacement for SWIFT. Banks barely need to change anything to adopt Ripple.

^ Cool to see my bank working with this.

I was looking forward into investing in some cryptocurrency. It's to late for bitcoin, and Eth seems kinda stupid. Just read about ripple and might give it a chance and invest a couple hundreds.

Ripple seems more decentralized than bitcoin which is cool.

I disagree with everything said in those statements. Ripple is one of the most centralized cryptocurrencies. That's one of the reasons why banks are attempting to test it in the first place...

all cryptos are centralized due to the core developers

if miners disagree with developers you get a fork like bitcoin is undergoing right now... in other words one centralized group of developers splits into two centralized groups of developers each with their own coin

there is yet to be a decentralized coin

What you described above is decentralized consensus. Miners are individuals or groups of individuals that have a say in what should or shouldn't be done on a given network. Developers cannot just change core code and expect everyone to adopt it, that's why the block limit debate has been going on for ages. That is most certainly not the case with Ripple. 100% of the decisions made are done from a centralized standpoint... Only Ripple Labs has the authority to change its own protocol / code and all the participants have to abide by those changes. Not to mention, they can dilute the existing supply of XRP on the market at any given time they choose to. Considering they only released 37% of XRP, I can say with near certainty that the Ripple Network may increase its market cap slightly, but the price per XRP will be demolished.

You'll regret that move to be honest. The trend in price for XRP/BTC in the last 2 years has been down, down, down.

If it goes up, that's nice, I'll probably hold onto this long term. If it drops I'll prob double my investment and leave it there. Pretty much everyone posted something along those lines giving their opinion when Sythe created that bitcoin thread look how that turned out. You're looking at the graph, but what about what happens next to it? There have been countless things that made Bitcoin go up or drop, several times over years.

Ripplecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin could all skyrocket or plummet any time. It depends heavily on the actions that certain corporations and countries takes on them, positive or negative. In the end this is something I choose to believe in and I can afford a loss like this. I'd rather be a part of this than potentially regret it in the future. I'm in this with friends which makes it more interesting.

Valid argument, I respect your views. By the way, I don't just research graphs. I only make investments based on in depth analysis of the team behind each project, what real world problems they are trying to tackle, and why I think it'll be valuable in 5 years+. Charts are only an added layer of data in my research.

Actually rippled (full node) is open source and anyone can run one. All of their code is open source. Ripple · GitHub

As you will have learnt from Eth/Eth classic the coins are the code. Change the code, change the coin. People can always continue running the old code which processes the old chain, and there's nothing the developers can do. Exact same deal here.

Further eth has no coin cap yet people are continuing to own that over ripple which does have a cap.
