Arizona cuts off funding to Planned Parenthood

Isn't this unconstitutional somehow? I don't see how they can just stop funding, because it's a woman's right to get an abortion.

Arizona cuts off funding to Planned Parenthood

No government money goes to fund abortions. Planned Parenthood makes sure of that with accounting. Republicans say that it doesn't matter since giving them money for other stuff allows them to preform more abortions (which is bull). It may be unconstitutional to cut them off because they do abortions. A similar law in Texas has just been blocked and they must either stop all Medicare funding or fund Planned Parenthood, or something like that.

i dont have a problem with it, although it might be a womans right to have an abortion, i dont personally believe in them, with the exception of rape victims, etc. its not my fault if someone has sex without a condom, is it really that difficult to not just get a condom? its not like buying one will break the bank...

Planned Parenthood spends 0% of the governments money on abortions. 0%. That's nothing. Overall it spends less than 2% of private donations and the governments money on abortions. 98% of their money goes to cancer screenings, general medicine, etc. So you're saying since you don't believe in abortion, Planned Parenthood and the 98% of stuff that they do that isn't abortions needs to go too?

nah, just the abortion part. but it is kinda true, although the money doesnt go directly to abortions, it does go to the doctors who perform them, the staff, the rent on the building they are using..i wouldnt be okay with this if they didnt perform abortions at all. but they do.

So you would rather tens of thousands of women go without basic health care and not get cancer screening and all that jazz than fund an organization that also does abortions with its own money? Sounds to me like you like death more than life.

yup, i like death more than life...
no actually im against abortions, which are ending a life before it can even begin. dumbass. maybe if the funds didnt indirectly fund abortions i would be mad about this. but they do indirectly fund abortions. so if the government doesnt spend the money i spend on taxes on something like that, im not gonna lose any sleep about it. you can get cancer screenings at any hospital, doctors office...theres other ways of getting health care other than planned parenthood.

You are wrong. For many women Planned Parenthood is the only way they can get any sort of medical care. They are poor and do not get help from the government. The government's funds also do not even indirectly fund abortions. Planned Parenthood gets more than enough donations to cover the abortions as well as other medical care. What the funding does is allow them to serve more women with more services. The whole assertion that they indirectly fund abortions is just silly. They wouldn't turn people away from having abortions if they didn't get state money. If they had the money and a women came in they would treat her, first come first serve. Not getting state money would not lead them to stop just abortions. That's just a stupid idea.
