Is it right to hit a woman?

So then guys I have been doing a lot of research into this lately and am just thinking to myself is it right to ever hit a woman?

I mean I know they are physically weaker and aren`t as capable as most Men but some Women just go over the top and beat Men and slap them in public thinking it is okay as they will personally not get hurt themselves?

I am against hitting woman. If a woman hits you, you just hold her from hitting you any further. Besides, when a woman hits you, how much would it hurt you? It's not like you're going to die. Its hard for me to justify it, I am just against hitting woman.

Life-threatening situation are different though.

 

Yes I have to say this would more than likely be my response aswell however there is also the factor that if Woman want to fight like Men should they not be treated the same in a fighting incident as Men?

I can see your point though and personally if it was a life threatening position I would diffuse the situation in the safest and fastest way and if that means lashing out and fighting back then so be it.

 

If a woman throws a punch at me, of course i'll punch back. I don't go around randomly starting fights will people, but if the other person instigates, I'm fighting back- male or female. I don't discriminate

 

True but does it not affect you that a woman is physically weaker than you?

Also what would you do if everybody was watching? Surely that would be your pride out of the window and you would get your ass kicked for being the so called "Bad person" by all the other Men watching?

 

Saying "woman are physically weaker" and that it's "wrong for men to hit women", is exactly why many men are domestically abused - because they're scared to hit back or say they were hit by a woman. Don't underestimate women by saying they're physically weaker, I've met my match a few times when I used to do martial arts.

It's more a traditional saying rather than one that applies to modern day society because before, women kept the house and brought up the children whereas men fought and hunted. We live in a more equal society, so if a woman seriously abuses you or throws a punch, a man has every right to defend himself. Especially if it's unprovoked.

 

In my opinion, you shouldn't hit back in general.
However, I may be biased but if the woman looks large/manly/aggressive, then I think they're capable of taking a hit back - this is only to deter them from continuing an attack. Of course this would have to be someone I do not know at all, as I don't think you should ever hit someone close to you. But the common petite woman should be held down/back in case they are hitting instead of being hit back.

 

Unless I was in a life-threatening situation, such as them having a knife etc, then I would retaliate, but other than that, I'd just use self-defence or block their attacks. I don't believe that men should attack women if it is not necessary, as we are generally stronger and will get a lot more aggressive. If there were multiple girls however, I'd probably hit one to give them a warning, as I am in no way, shape or form a 'big' person, so i'd probably lose. I let my girlfriend beat me up all the time, as I know she's only doing it for fun, so I try and make it a bit more fun for her. Different situations require different actions.

Off Topic Slightly, IK this is SFA, but I gotta say, no matter what sex they are in RuneScape, I'd still attack them back, I aint losing my bandos to some girl.

 

Hmm yes I agree not all women are physically weaker than Men and that is just a stereotype sort of thing as I too do Taekwondo and have met some very lets say "Hench" women lol.

Also just to pick up you say we live in a more equal society but how is it more equal? Surely now Women have the overall lets say hand over Men as they get more time off during child birth which agreed is obviously worse for the Women in most cases but it takes two people to make a baby?

Also women have more rights generally over Men if a divorce happens?

Surely the people still complaining about Women`s rights in 1st world countries E.g: America and the United Kingdom are just complaining to try and make Women even more superior over Men?

We live in a society where women can go to work and men can stay at home, where women take up in the same activities as men. So who's to say that women are the weaker sex?

Since the strive for equality between men and women, you have to realise, these inherent biological tendencies have not changed. This is why women are more stimulated by babies than men. This is why women continually carry a double burden. This is why women's body language cues are skewed towards submission. There are even more physiological differences between men and women. Women cannot possibly build as much muscle as men as they have far less testosterone. Women are slightly shorter than men, and typically have a smaller frame, limiting their genetic strength potential. Why on earth do you think men almost ALWAYS (depending on the event) beat women in the Olympic based records?

Obviously the modern gender roles people have been socialised into have diverged, and the cultural norms have shifted to allow women to work, the man stay home, and so on. This does not, in one way, change the biological fact that men and women are NOT equal, and that women play a more nurturing role than men. Funnily enough, gay men also typically take on certain female tendencies. I wonder why.

As to the question, there's nothing wrong with hitting a women. It's simply self-defence (unless you instigate, in which case their gender is irrelevant). That said, men typically don't like hitting women, for a very simple reason. We perceive women as less of a threat, much like how we perceive animals as of almost no threat. If your dog bit your leg to play, you'd probably try to shake it off, but if a wolf bit your leg, you'd probably pull out your gun.

 

I find people who hit women heartless people. They shouldn't raise their hands at someone whos way weaker then them.

 

You should never ever hit a woman. Its disrespectfull and as many people well-said, they are weaker than us.

@Malakadang, while I'm aware, yes, biologically women are weaker, this doesn't mean that *this* particular woman is in fact weaker than the man. It's perfectly plausible the woman could overpower the man, making his retaliations or self defence perfectly justifiable. This brings me to my own conclusion which is, if a woman attacks you, you have every right to knock her back. I wasn't saying we should just be allowed to hit women, nobody should "just hit" anybody. All I was implying was that the phrase "never hit a girl" has been said since God knows when, so it's not totally relevant in today's society.

Unless it's a life-threatening situation or I was about to lose my hot dog and golf balls I would never hit a woman.

 

How can you we treat them as equals and allow them to get away with injustices. Don't pity them, don't neglect them, take them at face value.

 

My mom raised me on this saying.

"If a woman is man enough to hit you, she is man enough to get hit by you"

Now, I have not returned throws with most woman who have "hit" me.

But one example is my freshman year in highschool, for some reason or another, I got into a argument with this senior girl, who was a fucking BEAST. Like 6'1, 200 lbs. I was like 5 foot at the time.

She ended up decking me in the jaw, it hurt so fucking bad.

What did I do?

I punched the bitch square in the nose, and broke it. When they tried to suspend me, I claimed self-defense, and my mom had been down there backing me up on it..

I still got suspended, but It was pretty much a free vacation since I wasn't in trouble with my parents.

Now with that said, is it ok to hit woman? It's just as ok as it is to hit anyone. To say it's not ok, would be sexist.

That is putting woman below men, which is not right, and many feminists claim this, that any man willing not to hit a woman, because she is a woman, is a sexist pig.
