No, I don't. I also feel that that's a rather ridiculous question to ask. An invisible man in the sky, who thinks, and watches what we do? What a preposterous notion! I mean, is there any empirical evidence to support this view? I think not!

    The Existence of God

Why should a God have to think?
Why should a God have unlimited power?

    Pantheism, nigger, look it up.

    The Existence of God

I'm addressing the most common concept of God, as postulated by the creator of this thread (the Christian God).

    The Existence of God

Well, There is many theories both Scientific and Religious but one of them has to be true. It just doesn't seem right that DNA just came and made us, But then again anything can happen.

First, the religious ideas out there are not theories. Look up what "theory" means.

Second, to say "it doesn't seem that DNA could have made us, so God must exist" is the argument from ignorance.

Religion requires faith. You cannot get people to believe in your idea, unless you oppose some kind of threat upon said people. When that happens, you influence them to choose a path. This is basically the starting types of dictatorships.

You strike fear into a person (like in religion, where you will go to hell if you do not worship, said god.) Once you have that, you tell the people how to avoid going to the fearful place.(hell in religions case) You then can get them to go anywhere you would like, and believe anything you would like. (like me saying that you will go to hell, if you do not go to church every sunday, wednesday, etc.)

Do you believe in him though just because of hell? As in, I dont think that half as many people would believe in god, if there was no such thing as "hell"

    The Existence of God

The title should be, do you believe in the Christian God. Which I do not. The very idea of it and much of Christianity contradicts both science and itself.

As far as a god of some sort, a higher being, I'll take the agnostic aproach and admit that I can't prove there isn't one, but I can use simple logic to draw my own conclusions.

    The Existence of God

If that's the only thing a Christian is concerned about, then he/she is following a wrong path. I know that the only way for a Christian to go to hell is to start to follow athiesm.

When I talk to people/friends about Christianity, I don't tell them "hey dude, your going to hell if you don't believe in God.

Actually, you can altar what people believe and feel.

Read what i said in the answer before this, you can altar what people believe and feel.

The problem is, that some people say "you are going to hell if you do not do such and such." Well, from what i have heard, it is not your judgment that matters.

That is the only problem with it, you have one person telling you that you are going to hell.

When I did attend church as a small lad, i was sitting in the pew 3 rows from the pastor. Well, he did a sermon one day, and he was pointing to people telling them that if they did not attend church, then they would be going to hell, and never live a fulfilled life. This is one way i stopped believing.

I'm trying to get people to logically evaluate their own beliefs.

I can stop people from believing - I've done it before.

I'm not trying to manipulate anybody.

Why? Do you have any empirical evidence of such a being?

Of course you can. However, this IS the debate section. I would stay away if don't like people questioning your beliefs.
