    Computer Specs

    ASRock M3A770DE mobo
    AMD Athlon II X4 620, OC'd to 3.5Ghz
    G.SKILL 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600Mhz
320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD (old, reused from previous build)
    EVGA GeForce GTS 450 1GB OC 900/1000/1800
    Logitech MK320 wireless keyboard
Standard Microsoft USB Mouse (I HATE having a ton of buttons)
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Currently using like a 5 year old 18.5" Dell LCD, but my new 21.5" 1080P monitor should be coming in today (got it cheap as shit during NewEgg's shell shocker deal thing, $109 for a LED LCD by a decent brand, Acer) so I'm excited for that.

In July I get some moola that I'm gonna be using to upgrade my system. Right now I'm looking at:
    AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 2GB (maybe different, depending on money)
    2TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD
    A second kit of G.SKILL DDR3 1600 4GB 2x2GB

It should be a pretty big increase in performance across the board. I'd get another GTS 450 but I just found out my mobo doesn't support SLI, which makes me pretty sad. It does support CFX but I doubt my PSU could handle it, so it'd wind up being expensive as hell to upgrade all of that rather than just get the GTX 460, but we'll see when the time rolls around.

What's wrong with AMD? I don't feel like paying twice as much for the same performance. I take it you're an Intel elitist. The high end AMDs are pretty comparable to mid range Intels, at a lower cost. Sure, AMD doesn't have $1,000 enthusiast cpus, but are those really necessary?

Do you really need to spend the extra $100 to get performance you mostly can't even utilize? The 1100T won't bottleneck you on any games that are out right now or any games that are coming out in the next few years. It's easy to see that you're an Intel elitist. The whole point of AMD is to be affordable yet still deliver solid performance, which if you really think the 1100T won't deliver solid performance then you're just further reinforcing the idea that you're an Intel elitist.

AMD vs Intel is a classic fanboy battle. The bottom line is, for some price ranges AMD is better, for others, Intel is. I am pretty happy with my i5 which I paid around £130 for.

I mean, shit, I'd love to have an i7 2600k. There's no doubt in MY mind that Intel does make better high end processors, but when you're a student with no job it comes down to affordability, and AMD definitely has that where Intel doesn't. Even AMD mobos are significantly cheaper for the most part.

I just don't understand why he had to quote me and laugh at the AMD processor. Insecure much baha?

I agree that AMD is nothing to laugh at, sure they are a great company that makes awesome processors and graphics cards (I happen to prefer them over nVidia), but that doesn't mean Intel isn't awesome too
