How do I make this happen???

Ok, so ive talked to alot of people, but nobody seems to be able to get me to the correct person to post a thread I want. I am going to open up a little raffle here for the sythe community. I checked with a few mods, and they said it was legal by sythe standards, so i asked where it needed to go. Hahanerd said it belongs in the community general section most likely, so I attempted to post it there. It never showed up, so I asked again and was told I needed an ADMIN approval. I have PM'ed all admins (excluding Tyro cuz he cant be PM'ed at this time) and have had no response, so where do I go from here?

Is there another section I could post this in that doen't require approval from an admin? Or is there a more efficient way to contact some1 to get this thread approved and posted? I really wanted to get the first little test raffle in before christmas just to provide a little fun for sythe during the holidays, but I can't seem to make it happen and Its been several days since I started trying, LOL.

PS: All proceeds that do not go to the winner of the raffles will be donated directly back to the sythe community, so once I get this posted, check out my siggy and enter, you may win big and even if you don't, your entry fee isn't wasted because it helps make this community even better!

 

If you really want it to be a serious raffle, you will need to get approval from an administrator, the two best ones being to ask Pen or Tyro. When you get permission for this they'll approve the thread when it comes in the Community General subsection.

The reason it needs to be approved is you can make the raffle and easily steal everyones money, which is of course scamming and would make a few unhappy people. Admins usually only approve it when they deem the user creating it extremely trustworthy and they won't do anything malicious.

If you ask me, your best bet would be to get a moderator or highly trusted member to help you out and handle the money. Then the administrator would feel that the members money will be safe.

 

I've Pm'ed Pen and the other PM'able admins, but no response at all yet. And how do I contact Tyro? I cant PM him and his email is blocked from sending too, but I would rather have his help or advice or approval at least since he did the old lottery.

 

Adding him on msn might be the only possibly way to contact him. I don't know if he still uses it, but it was <MSN removed>

Would it be easier if I just found another sub-section to post in? I havn't needed to go first for any trade in quite some time, so I assume people wouldn't have a problem trusting me. Especially because the first raffle at least will only consist of like a $10 or $15 pot.

 

I suggest sticking with Pen. these admins come on RARELY, so to be honest your raffle idea is going to be hard to put out. they also come on for extremely short periods of time.

No, you need admin permission to do this. Its just rules you have to stick with.

 

I mean, I have sent the Pm, I dont want to be annoying, i assume when he next logs in he will respond to it hopefully, any other section this would be ok to post in? possibly one that doesn't require the approval of a rarely seen member

 

I don't think you understand what we're trying to say. You need administrator approval to make the raffle, not to make a thread in the Community General section.

 

Ahhhh, I gotcha, ok so whats my chances at getting in contact with an admin about this any time soon? I know there very busy, so Im not trying to be rude or anything, but kinda sucks that it takes so long just to get the go-ahead to do something, ya know? How come any1 but an admin can't approve something like this? Admins don't have to approve alot of other things that involve alot more sythe user money. just a question.

 

I don't know the exact answer to this, but my guess is because administrators technically run the site they will decide if you are legitimate to run a competition like this. Remembering that when you do something like this, all the members who participate would have to trust you with there money, making it a rather risky affair. Just wait patiently until you get a reply. If you don't get one they're probably rejecting your offer.

 

Not to sound offensive, but do you think they would just not reply in an effort to deny my request? I would hope I would at least receive some sort of denial PM or something, that way I don't check my sythe PM box every minute to see if I received a response to my inquiry. Also, how trusted WOULD I have to be to do something like this? I mean I handle alot more than this with my various business deals and my personal training thread. It just seems a bit overkill to micromanage something like a raffle that concerns $1 per person for like $15 (this was my proposed first raffle guidelines), when people trade much higher value deals unmonitered. Yes the moderators do the best they can, but all accounts aren't checked before trade, and all skill services aren't verified before the first person tries them out. I guess its policy around here and I will abide by it and do my best to get my raffle proposal to the correct eyes to get it rolling, it just seems Im going through alot more trouble and conflict with this idea than I originally anticipated. And the raffle hasn't even started yet, if anything I would have predicted un-thought-of complications DURING the raffle that I would have to approach and solve as they arose, but I had no idea it would be this difficult just to post the raffle, LOL.

Again, the above is not meant to be offensive by any means, I am not flaming or any of the sort, just expressing my feelings about the issue, hopefully I can get this plan in motion soon, still awaiting PM's from one of the ADMIN's.

 

I'm not sure about how trustworthy you'd need to be, but the earlier competitions we've had like this have all been run by staff members, to make the competition as safe and secure as possible.

Also, yeah I do agree you should be given a reply message. But remember, the Sythe staff do have a lot of work to do and need to handle other much more demanding issues.

 

How would I contact Tyro? He can't be PM'ed or emailed, and he is the one that would be the most help, and he is an ADMIN so double positive there, is there a section that I could just post a shout out to him to talk with me or something? Also, do you suggest me sending the message to the other 3 admins again because I know they are busy, maybe they overlooked it or read it, forgot about it, now its pushed to the 8th page cuz they get so many PM's a day? Also, should I seek the help of some other staff such as a mod or something to seem more trusted or to help me get in touch with the admins?

 

Sythe and Matthew are technical Admins/Owners. They certainly won't reply so it's best not to message them. I'd say it's best to just not worry about this competition.

 

I'm not necessarily worrying about it, but if you are saying I should stop trying I don't think I'm ready to give up so quickly. I mean, I have already talked a bit in the donators lounge and stuff about it and it seemed to get some decent response, I am after all donating anything not going to the winner. I have already spoken with Hahanerd multiple times about it and he seemed to like it and it seems the only problem I am finding is getting permission, which seems weird to me. I have read the rules very throughly and I do not believe I missed anything, nothing in there says I need to get permission and a few people have told me I don't necessarily need permission to host this, Its up to the members as to whether they would like to trust me with the entry fees or not. I don't mind finding a moderator or a few who will ensure I am running a legitimate and fun game, but I see it as a bit ridiculous to require me to gain permission from someone who will not respond to my messages. And I don't want this little detail to get in the way of a great idea that will not only provide fun for the sythe community, but will also provide a stream of donations to sythe.org, its a Win-Win. Why must it be in community general section or why must I gain permission, if the community members trust me enough to be an active trader, isnt that enough to open up other venues that require trust? If anything, I fail and nobody trusts me enough, I will see that I need more trust before trying again, but I feel as though Im being shot down before being given a chance, that's all. I don't mean to keep firing back at you, you have been very helpful and I appreciate it honest, I just want a fair shot at this.
