    Computer Performance

Hey guys sorry if this is the wrong section, I wasn't sure where to put it.

But anyways my computer has been running very slow lately, and I can barley run one bot at a time. My computer is relatively new... Got it a few years ago, and I don't understand why it's this slow.

    Any suggestions?

Not looking to pay for anything, or to buy a new computer.

Just looking for small things I can do to increase my computers performance.

    Thanks.

Edit - Oh yeah and if it matters I have a Gateway Laptop, running on Vista.

Well, I'm quite sure this is in the wrong section. But to answer your question, I suggest downloading CCleaner (Crap Cleaner). It's such an awesome program, it basically deletes all the crap left from unproperly uninstalled programs, clears caches, you name it. GL :p

This is the correct section: http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=295

But anyways, Vista uses a lot of resources, I suggest you upgrade to Windows 7 or reformat it to Windows 7. You could try turning your aero and stuff like that off and making it into a classic theme. Anyways, hope I helped.

I don't know if you're willing to do this, but I recently switched my OS to Ubuntu. It's free, and awesome!

I had the same performance problems, and I can honestly say I'm satisfied with Ubuntu thus far.

Ubuntu does run way faster than windows.

    Also, moved to tech support.

I'm glad you went with my suggestion! ;)

OT: Once again I suggest switching to a Linus distribution such as Ubuntu to Fedora. It is a lot faster than Windows and uses much less resources. If you absolutely need to run a windows programs there are ways to do it; Whether it be through WINE or a Virtual Box.

Ii you have any questions feel free to add me on MSN (It is in my signature).

If you'd rather just stick with Windows, here are my $.02

A lot of things can cause slowless in Windows PCs. I have a feeling that your Gateway has a virus OR the virus software(s) (and other programs) you have on it are slowing it down. Gateways (and other cheaper PCs) often come with tons of "bloatware" when you buy it, and not deleting it can make your computer really slow in the end.

See http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/04/21/how-to-decrapify-your-new-windows-pc/ this, and other ways to "de-crapify" your Windows PC. PM me if you need further information.
